CONVERSATIONS

The three sat on the couch in the living room as they ate pizza, observing their attention towards a movie Ash brought over; The Outsiders.

Ash was wearing a black long-sleeved thumb holed shirt, a pair of leggings, some baggy blue jeans on top of that, and a pair of boots, because of the heavy snow outside. She had grown out nails with tips in the shape of ovals, her hair was long and glamorous, she had pretty purple eyeshadow on that matched her eyes. How could Sal not want to date her?

"Wasn't Todd supposed to be here, too?" Ash wondered as she put pizza in her mouth, her attention pulled away from the television and to the other two boys.

"He was, but then said he had to go on a surprise date with Neil." Sal spoke with his mouth full, the prosthetic on his face only pushed up a little for food to go in his mouth.

He was a bit comfortable with Larry seeing his face, but not so much with Ash. He felt so overwhelmed and pressured when Ash saw his face for the first time, even though he was very delighted that she didn't say anything bad about his face.

"We should go outside." Ash suggested, putting the crust of the finished pizza back into the box to be transported into the trash.

"Why? It's like.. Fuckin' two degrees outside." Larry spoke with his mouth full as well, laying against the couch in comfort.

"Yeah, but, we can wear a million jackets if we have to. I wanna go play in the snow with you guys." She stood up, not taking no for an answer.

"Alright, why not?" Sal spoke as he stood up, going over to put on a heavy jacket, ear muffs, and his shoes. His long blue hair showing himself before his prosthetic could.

Larry and Ash put on their protective wear as well, heading outside through the cellar leading out of Larry's room. Ash was basically jumping up and down in excitement, she used to love playing in the snow when she was younger, now she hoped she could have that same joy with her best friends.

As they got outside, Ash was the first one to pick up a ball of snow, and threw it at Larry. He let out a fake gasp; "that's so mean of you.." He trailed off, picking up a bigger wad of snow and throwing it right back to her.

And that is how the big snow ball fight of '95 began. (i love being overdramatic)

Once Sal got tired of throwing snow, he decided to go shift away from the fight to go make his own snowman. But he took consideration to Travis sitting in front of the building, he looked like he was freezing, Sal couldn't help but walk over and speak to the poor boy.

"What're you doing out here wearing a thin jacket while it's below freezing? You're gonna freeze your ass off, man." Sal asked worriedly, sitting beside the unnatural blonde on the front step of the building.

"Lisa said it was time for a break, and I didn't know where else to go other than out here." Travis answered, the staggering in his tone indicated just how cold he was, he couldn't move his hands without trembling.

"You should know your always welcome in my apartment, Travis, I've told you that.. I don't want you to die out here." Sal chuckled, trying to make light of the dreadful conversation like usual.

Travis kept avoiding eye contact, just staring out into the road as drivers passed by, "It's fine, I'm fine, Sal." He spoke rather irritatedly, he tried to push him away emotionally, hoping he'd get the hint.

The blue haired boy then sighed, "I insist, then. Come on, I'll come with you. Keep you company." Sal smiled under his prosthetic, having faith that Travis would finally accept the offer.

Travis rolled his eyes, "fine, whatever." The two stood up, after Sal went and told Larry and Ashley he was going back in due to him being cold, getting a few pleads to stay outside with them before they finally let him go.

They went back to Sal's apartment, luckily for Travis, Sal's dad just went to work, he already felt awkward enough as it is just being with Sal in his apartment.

"Go sit on the couch, I'll be there in a minute." Sal instructed, which Travis obeyed; (that sounds so wrong i'm so sorry.. 😞)

Sal came back a few minutes later with two plain mugs of hot chocolate, marshmallows included.

"That's really hot." Travis said, almost spitting out his drink, feeling the hot liquid burn his throat as it made its way down, "that's why it's called hot chocolate. I usually wait a while before I drink it, but some people can handle the heat." He shrugged, setting his mug down onto the coffee table.

"You wanna watch something?" Sal spoke after a few seconds, the awkward tension in the air was undoubtedly already so thick.

"Sure." Travis replied in a mutter, shrugging as Sal did so before.

"What then? We can do Cannibal Holocaust, Back To The Future, Poltergeist, The Goonies, IT." The blue haired boy suggested, looking over to Travis as he thought; coming to that conclusion seeing as Travis had a puzzled facial expression.

"I've never watched any of those before.. So.. IT I guess? What's it about?" Travis hasn't really been open to any movies. His father never let him watch anything that wasn't God related.

"You've never seen any of it?!" Sal spoke surprised, looking at the boy with wide eyes.

"Uh, no.. My father doesn't really let me watch anything." That being said made Sal a bit concerned, the suspicions were quickly piling onto him about his father the more he spoke about him.

"Oh.. Well, IT is about this non-human killer clown thing that can transform into anything, mainly children's fears. He prefers children because they are easily scared, it's honestly not that scary in my opinion, but whatever." Sal got up to put the movie into the dvd player.

Travis found that explanation interesting, it sounded tolerable enough. He couldn't help but silently chuckle to himself about that ridiculous description.

Towards the end of the movie, Travis decided to speak up; "People actually call this a horror movie? It's not even that scary.."

"To be honest, I was young when I saw it for the first time and it gave me nightmares." Sal chuckled, not finding the movie as scary as he used to.

"Wow, didn't really take you for such a scaredy cat, Sally Face." He laughed softly, causing Sal to scoff with his reply; "I'm not! Just used to be." He grumbled, turning off the movie since it was over anyway. He couldn't help but smile.

Something that really benefited having that prosthetic, was if someone was telling him not to laugh he could still smile under his mask about it, along with smiling for no apparent reason and not having to be asked about it.

Travis let out a defeated sigh as he got up, and walked towards the door, clearly just wanting to relax for a while at this point.

"I gotta get back to work." He stated as he opened the door, "Alright, bye, Travis." Sal waved lightly, "Bye, I guess.." The blonde muttered a bit awkwardly, as he left the smaller boys apartment to continue on with his punishment of a job.
