Chapter 49 - Manga Night

John's PoV

The next day after Shido's yet another failed attempt to seal Nia, a group meeting is being held at Fraxinus with every spirit present along with Shido.

Kotori: "Since the plan to seal Nia twice has failed, we need another strategy. Anyone got any ideas?

Yoshino: "Perhaps... the way to befriend big sister Nia is to give her more time... I think if we face her precisely, she will understand big brother's Shido good nature..."

Shido: "Well I already angered her twice and she knocked me out unconscious... so I don't think that will happen anytime soon... and besides, the pain from the kick is still lingering..."

Tohka: "Muu... So Nia likes 2D? Why's that?"

John: "Most likely since they are the only "people" that Nia can trust without a hint of betraying her."

Kotori: "Well didn't Nia opened up to both you and Miku a bit yesterday?"

Miku: "Yep. She also liked the cookie I baked~"

John: "Even if that's the case, I don't think I could raise the boundaries for her. It does look like she treats everyone like some sort of non playable characters from an open world video game."

Yuzuru: "Suggest, maybe we should continue fulfilling her preference if that's the case for Nia."

John: "That won't work, she's going to use Rasiel in order to look through our plans again."

Natsumi: "Well if that's the case, maybe I could just turn Shido into a page from a manga. That would be enough to make Nia fall in love with him."

Origami: "Natsumi, you're onto something."

Natsumi: "Wait what? Are we actually going to turn Shido into a manga page?"

Origami: "No. Let's make our own manga. That's enough to get Nia's attention knowing her occupation."

Kotori: "That's... not bad of an idea Origami. What do you guys think?"

Yoshino: "Big brother John and Shido helped us... maybe if we draw what both big brother John and Shido did up until now, big sister Nia will like them too. I'm sure..."

John: "Hey Yoshino. I know you mean well, but remember. It's Shido's main duty to seal Nia right now."

Tohka: "Hm? Why is Shido the best option for Nia?"

John: "Well based on the intel we gathered so far, Nia is practically a shut in Otaku whose also a manga artist. So she's mainly not going to get along well with extroverts. And besides, Shido is a really great candidate for a reason."

Kaguya: "How so?" I grinned at Shido as he looks at me with a slight fear on his face.

Shido: "I don't like the look of that..."

John: "Maybe Kotori can explain it better for everyone. Say Kotori, what did Shido do in the past?"

Kotori: "I'm glad you asked John, here are the stories and poems Shido wrote back when he was in middle school."

Shido: "Please don't..."

Kaguya: "Give me that. Let me have a look at it." Kaguya goes through the pages Shido wrote as she looks at them in awe before eventually laughing, which prompts Shido to quickly get off his seat and snatch them away.

Shido: "Enough of this..."

Kotori: "There's also a video of him trying to do some anime moves with that fake katana he had."

Tohka: "I want to see it!"

Origami: "Same. Let me see it too."

Shido: "No! Okay I get it Kotori, you made your point!"
