Tin Man Is Down

i raised an eyebrow "so, you're off to south america?"
"yeah, i am" he nodded
"good luck, quinn" i smiled
i reached for a hug.
"do you know how long you'll be?"
"not really"
nearly a month ago quinn left for south america. for his CIA work. on terms of me, i was back to my regular life, i guess. mostly working. other than being at the hospital, i didn't have much of a life. i picked up as many shifts as i could lately. there was nothing else to think about.
i ran a bag of blood down the hallway and into a trauma room.
"thanks, cassandra" one of the doctors smiled
"he's going up to the or?" i asked
he nodded his head.
"they're already notified"
"perfect" i nodded, going next door.
i took off my gloves and tossed them into the trash, washing my hands.
"hey, cassandra, i think you got a call for you on line 3" one of my coworkers said, popping her head into the room.
"do you know what it is?"
"no idea"
"maybe it's finally cardiology for my patient" i smiled
i dried off my hands.
"thanks, lindsay" i added before she walked out from the room.
i walked around the corner, reaching for the phone.
"it's cassandra from the ER" i said, hoping for cardiology.
"cass" i heard a voice said
"quinn?"
i went around into the corner of the hallway.
"fuck, cass, i've fucked up"
"you're still in venezuela?"
"yeah"
he sounded out of breath.
"are you okay, what happened?"
"it's not me"
"i fucking shot this kid"
"what?"
"not on purpose"
"god" he groaned
"i just fucked up"
"he's dead"
"fuck, quinn"
"when are you coming home?"
"i'm trying to get out of here"
"i just have one more thing to deal with"
"it's going to be okay"
"i don't know" he sighed
"look, i have to go, i'll call you after work, okay?"
"yeah, cass"
i hung up the phone.
fuck.
i tan a hand through my hair, walking down the hallway.
"have labs come back yet?" someone asked me
"pardon?"
she raised her eyebrows "labs of mcpherson?"
"no, not yet"
"i'll call them in a minute"
