Season 5 x 03
Super Powers

"how long is your shift today?"
"12 hours" i sighed
"on my last two"
"i feel like you've been on forever"
"that's because i have"
i typed on the computer, looking at films of one of my patients.
"so, kory is back?"
"a few days ago" i nodded, zooming in on the x-rays.
my coworker leaned against the desk.
"have you two been planning the wedding yet?"
i widened my eyes.
"no"
"i sort of forgot i'm even engaged" i smiled
"we're both busy"
"well, with 12 hour shifts, yeah"
"it's been nearly a half a year, i should probably at least  be thinking of a wedding"
"you have time" she shrugged
"i guess so"
"unless i keep working so much, i might jump off the building"
she gave me a serious look.
"i'm kidding, lauren" i smiled
"anyways, better get to casting my guys broken leg"
———
"my chest pain guy is admitted"
"my fever and chills gal is discharged"
"and my lac patient is bandaged and sent off" i smiled
"so, goodnight for you?" the doctor smirked
"yes, it will be" i smiled
"i'll see you in a couple days"
"when are you on next?" she asked
"not tomorrow but the day after"
"see you then"
i waved my hand, heading for the front doors.
i held my bag in my hand and walked toward the parking garage.
i was so exhausted. my hair was sweaty and my feet hurt.
i unlocked my car, throwing my bag in the passengers seat. i looked in the rear view mirror. i sure looked like hell.
i started my car, backing out of the parking spot.
not to mention, my head was pounding. it had to of been from the weather. it was spring and wouldn't stop raining.
at least i hope that was the reason. the last thing i needed was a cold.
i drove down the street, merging onto the highway.

after what felt like forever, i pulled into the driveway, getting out from my car. the front door was unlocked, i guess kory was home.
i slipped off my shoes and landed my keys on the front table.
"cassandra?" i heard him say from upstairs
"i'm home" i said
he came down the stairs as i was making my way to the kitchen.
"how was your day?" he asked me, kissing my cheek.
"long"
"it feels like i haven't seen you in forever"
i opened a bottle of ibuprofen.
"i'm taking a hot shower and going to bed"
"sounds like a plan" he whispered.
