Season 4 x 12
Long Time Coming

i sat at a table, olivia was sitting on one of the firefighters, jason's, lap.
i leaned back on the leather booth seat, sipping on a mixed drink.
i had a new message pop up on my phone, it came two days ago.
"i'll be right back, just gotta head to the ladies room" i told the firefighter i was talking to, ben.
"sure" he nodded as i scooted past him to the bathroom.
you have one new message
"it's quinn, i'm sorry i left without saying anything in person, i'm alive if that wasn't already obvious, right about now i want to fucking die though, just wanted to let you know, cass"
"i miss you"
beep.
i shoved my phone back in my purse, heading back to the table.
"everything okay?" ben asked
"yeah, i'm doing good" i smiled
i looked at my watch, taking another sip of my drink.
"i guess it's getting pretty late, huh?"
"yeah, i have an earlier shift tomorrow, morning"
"want me to walk you out?" he asked
"sure" i shrugged, getting back up and out of the booth.
"alright, we're heading out, you guys enjoy yourselves" ben waved
i smiled back at the table.
then, we left the bar.
"i hope you had a good night"
"yeah, i'll call you or something"
"sounds like a plan" he nodded as i got into my car
"have a good night, nurse"
"you too, firefighter" i smiled.
———
i got out from my car, closing the door behind me.
"took you long enough" a voice said from behind me.
i jumped a little
"fuck" i panted
then, i looked up.
"shit, quinn?"
"i forgot about you"
"that's not true" he smirked
my eyes went wide, realizing he was standing in front of me "it's been months"
he nodded his head
"sorry"
"when did you get back?"
i raised my eyebrows
"saw you with some guy last night and figured i shouldn't bother anything"
"you fucking spy" i smiled
"it's not like that"
"i didn't let him in"
"i saw" he nodded
"you look like you came from a funeral or something"
"i did, actually"
"really?"
he nodded
"i kissed her, my coworker"
i tilted my head
"not that into her, huh?"
"no, not really"
he leaned on the side of my car
"how was pakistan?"
"a shit show"
"i got your message" i nodded
"i wanna quit my job"
i looked down at my feet "you say that everytime you come back from one of these missions"
"i mean it this time"
"right" i smiled
"i wanna quit and go take you to bali or something"
"me?"
he nodded
"is that what you told your coworker tonight?"
he shook his head
"she'd never want to do that"
"i would?"
"yeah, you would"
"it's not like that anyways with her"
i smiled
"i'm just, glad to be home"
"i'm glad you're alive"
"see?" he smirked
"shut up" i laughed, walking toward my house
"what're you doing?"
"come with me, go chase your coworker, i don't know quinn"
he followed me..
