Broken Promises

chapter 22 The BBQ

Kandence is currently running around, making sure that everything is all set up and ready for the BBQ.

The guest will start to arrive in less than an hour, and she still needs to set the outside decorations.

She mind links some of the party helpers to come help a few moments later, four female Omega's around four-teen appear. Kandence gives her instructions, and they are off on their new tasks. 

Kayleigh is up  in her room, looking around at all the boxes filled with her things. Tonight will be the last time she sleeps in her childhood home and bedroom. The Omega starts to feel emotional just thinking about tomorrow. 

"Kayleigh..." The Alpha stops as he sees his daughter. "What's the matter?"

Kayleigh goes over to her dad as the tears begin to fall, hugging him tightly. Unable to speak, Kayleigh used her mindlink to talk to her dad.

Martin rubs his daughter's back as she silently sobs in his arms. The Alpha bites the inside of his cheek to keep his own emotions under control.

Nothing hurts more than seeing your child hurt. After a few minutes, Kayleigh pulls back to look at her dad.

"I didn't expect to feel this way."

Martin smiles down at his daughter, wiping away a stray tear from her cheek. "It's normal honey, it's a big change for you. You'll be fine, though!

Now dry your tears and come down when you are ready. Your mother needs some help. "

Kayleigh nods at her father and watches as he leaves.

An hour into the BBQ, Kayleigh's jaw is starting to ache from all the faux smiles when greeting her guest.

Jessica and Justin arrived not long ago, but Lilly has still yet to arrive. In fact, the Omega hasn't heard from her friend since her confession.

Kayleigh frowns at the thought of Lilly not showing up.

"Just text her." A voice says behind her, making the Omega jump. Jessica laughs. "Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. "

Kayleigh turns to her friend. "Text who?" Kayleigh knows who Jessica is talking about, and her friend knows it.  Jessica gives her a pointed look.

"I can't. " Jessica rolls her eyes. "Why can't you?"

Kayleigh doesn't have an answer and instead just shrugs her shoulders. "Just text her Kayleigh. "

Sighing, Kayleigh pulls out her phone and sends Lilly a quick text.

Hey Lilly, are you coming to the BBQ?

A few seconds later, three dots appear indicating that Lilly is texting back.

Hi Kayleigh. Idk if it's a good idea..

"What? Why not?"

"Kay, you know why."

The Omega bites her bottom lip while thinking of a reply.

"Lilly, please . I want to see you before I leave."

"Fine. See you soon."

An hour later, Lilly arrives at the BBQ. There are so many people already from different packs.

As the Omega makes her way through the crowd, she spots Kayleigh standing next to Jessica and Justin. 

Kayleigh spots her friend and smiles as she greets her with a hug. "I'm glad that you came, Lilly. "
