Your Debut
By: Shuri

🪶

Waking up early, preparing myself for your debut

Tired to travel but I would do it for you

Put a letter in my gift, full of cringe quotes

First time trying a dress since I was young

🪶

Remembering the first time I fell for you

Realized that I just wanted your attention

So started doing some thinking, some reflection

And this time my feelings are real for you

🪶

Not gonna lie, I never felt this way before

Just your eyes, just your smile, they're enough

This is too impossible to ignore—

How you joke and how you laugh

🪶

My violet, my tortoise, my everything

Wanted to spend my entire life with you

You like someone, but that means nothing

Don't want anything, just you

🪶

Saw you dance on your debut

Wish I can do it with you, someday

Saw you cry out of happiness, it's cute

Wish your happy life would stay the same

🪶

And then, that time, everything came to me

We'll never have the chance to be together

I came from a broken family, yours makes you happy

I love you, but letting you go would be better

🪶

You're in the light, I'm in the shade

You're full of warmth, and I'm just cold

You're full of colors, I'm just a grey paint

I'm lost in despair, you still have hope

🪶

Oh but, love, my heart still screams your name

But I know you don't feel the same

So it's best to hide this unreciprocated feeling

But I still wished you would end up noticing

🪶

I reached for your arm and gave the gift

Whispered, "Don't open it till I leave"

Hoping the letter won't give a clue

Wishing everything didn't happen on your debut
