"What the hell was that, man?" Dean shook his head at Cas. He, Sam, Cas, and Rowena had just been in the middle of making a plan when Cas seemed to flicker out of existence for few seconds before flickering back. The weird action had not only put the three left behind on high alert, but also caused the brothers to share a concerned look. Cas flickering was not normal. Lights? Yes. Angels? Not so much.

Cas reached out and grasped the chair in front of him as if he was about to fall over. Dean ran forward, arms stretched out in case the angel did fall.

"She pulled me to her. I saw Alex." Cas looked up at the three standing there with a sorrowful look. Dean looked back at Sam, both sharing a hopeful look.

"That's great news, right?" Sam turned to Rowena. "I mean, that means we can definitely establish some kind of a connection to her world. That we are closer to reaching her, right?" Rowena pursed her lips and hummed in thought.

"She's different." Cas furrowed his eyebrows as he thought back to their interaction.

"Different? What do you mean different?" Dean asked, concerned.

Cas pulled out a chair and sat down, thinking through things, thinking over the information Alex had shared with her. "Time works differently there, in her world." His eyes shifted between the three standing in front of him.

"Cas, sweetie, you're going to have to keep going with this explanation if you want any of us to be on the same page." Rowena smiled sweetly at the angel, attempting to cover up her annoyance that the angel kept needing prompting to continue.

"She was sent to the other world, but she must've been sent back in time as well. She says she's been alive and living there for over two hundred years." A silence fell over the room as everyone took in that information.

"Does she even remember us?" Sam asked softly.

"She remembers. I believe it's still a sore subject for her," Cas explained softly. He knew this was a sensitive subject for the boys. It still came as a relief though that even after all this time, she still remembered where she came from.

"Still?" Sam asked with sad eyes. He had hoped that maybe she had been able to forgive, if not forget, what had occurred before she left. Cas simply responded with a sad nod, his eyes turning to Dean.

Rowena clapped her hands together, speaking up in an attempt to get things back on track and on to potentially happier things. "Right then. This is good news, Cas. If you've been to see her, I should be able to use any of the lingering energy on you to cast the spell and link the portal to whatever universe she is in. Did you happen to touch anything while you were there, dear?" The witch asked the angel.

Cas thought for just a second before holding up his hand. "I handed her a book."

"Perfect. Let's get this show on the road, shall we? Preferably before the other world energy runs away from us?" Rowena lifted her bag from the floor, pulling out the spell book, and began to turn the pages to the right spell.

After a few moments of the three boys arguing over who would be the ones to travel to the other world, it was decided- by Rowena- that Sam and Dean would travel to fetch the young witch while Cas stayed behind and helped Rowena to maintain the spell long enough for the boys to get through. The fact that time seemed to travel faster there than in their own world worked to their advantage. Though they shouldn't dilly-dally, it meant that the boys would have more time to locate Alex before things got too critically out of hand back at home. Rowena instructed the boys to have Alex use her magic and Enochian symbol to contact them when she was to open the portal again to get them back through.

Alex strolled along the sidewalk through town, her arm comfortably linked through Elijah's as he escorted her home. It was a beautiful evening. Sighing in contentment, Alex couldn't help but smile as she looked around the town as they made their way back to her apartment.

Dinner with the Original had been more than she'd thought it could be. The two had quickly fallen back into their old comfortable ways, talking the night away as they reminisced about old times and discussed newer adventures and life events. She had expressed her excitement when he had briefly discussed Klaus' residence nearby and his search for the moonstone that would break the hybrid's curse. But she also thanked Elijah for keeping her out of the teenage drama the whole thing had brought to her town.

Now, strolling through town together, Alex couldn't help but feel at peace. For the first time since she couldn't remember when, she felt as if things were finally settling down and it seemed like fate was finally on her side. The two shared light conversation, remarking on the history of a building or Elijah sharing a fond memory from the last time he was in Mystic Falls, though they tended to be few and far between.

Being out in public walking together had garnered a few looks from those passing by, but nothing unwelcomed. Alex's magic certainly hadn't missed the stalking shadow of a certain blue eyed vampire that lingered in the shadows as the couple strolled through the park on the way back to her apartment. Just before her and Elijah had stepped around the corner, she'd cast a quick glance back towards where she knew the blue-eyed man had lingered. If she hadn't been led along down the path by Elijah, she might've stopped and backtracked when she swore she caught sight of flannel where her magic had said the vampire had been.

As they stopped at the door to her shop, Elijah turned to her, adjusting their linked arms so he could wrap her up in a hug. "I rather enjoyed our evening. It's nice to have you around again, little-sister." His words and familiar hug brought a welcomed peace and happiness to Alex's heart.

"I did as well. It's been quite some time since I've felt so..." she paused as she thought of the right word to express what she was feeling lately.

"At home?" Elijah offered. Alex blinked at his words, the realization of their truth settling gently on her heart. "Yes," she agreed with a soft smile as he released her from the hug, "at home."

With a sweet smile and a soft, "Good night," Elijah stood guard until Alex had shut the shop door securely behind her before taking his leave.

Still smiling from such an enjoyable evening, she made her way to the back office stairs that led to her apartment. A musical knock on the shop's front door had her turning around before she made it to the office door. The frown on her face formed at the unexpected knock quickly dissipated when she heard Damon's voice call out "Winchester," in a sing song voice.

Alex opened the shop door with a happy smile. "Salvatore. What brings you to my door at this hour? If I didn't know better, I'd think you were checking up on me." Damon's blue eyes held a mischievous glint as he smirked at her. Hands planted on either side of the door frame he leaned forward, his head close to hers as he whispered, "As much as I want to say I'm here to visit my favorite witch," he paused leaning back and spoke at a normal volume, "I found something in town that I believe belongs to you. Thought I'd deliver it to you."

Alex's brows furrowed in a frown as she smiled at the vampire in confusion. Damon nodded to the side before stepping back. Stepping forward, Alex's eyes widened, her jaw dropping open in shock as she her eyes disbelievingly took in the two people she never thought she'd see again.

Turning to Damon, her face now emotionless and bordering cold, she asked the question as if he'd know the answer:

"What the hell are they doing here?"
