Naina tera kajra-re hain, naino par hum dil haare hain,

anjane hi tere naino ne, waade kiya kayi sare hain.

The lack of surprise on Badi Maharani-sa's face made Abhimanyu question whether he was played. Her calm composure and tactic approval was unnerving. It's not everyday that he and his parents come to Bhawanigarh to ask for her granddaughter's hand. It's like she already knew something like this would happen. He made a mental note to confront her about this later.

Right now, he had other priorities.

" Can I meet my future Bhabhi-sa?" Adhya exclaimed, eagerly bouncing on her feet. Devyani turned her head to admonish her seven-year-old daughter, but Abhimanyu quickly interrupted, " Of course, you can! It's been so long since you last met Rivannah!"

" Oh, we played together last Sunday-" Adhya said innocently, but was quickly dragged out of the receiving room. She struggled to keep with her big brother's huge strides as a silent attendant guided them to the balcony Rivannah was at.

They halted in front of a closed door and Abhimanyu excused the attendant. Adhya stood on her tiptoes(she was quite short), struggling to reach the door knob.He only used his little sister as an excuse to leave that room and find Rivannah.

" Scram." Abhimanyu flicked her forehead, his grey eyes as cold and serious.

" But I want to see Bha-" Adhya whined with unshed tears.

" I'll buy you candy. As much as you want." Abhimanyu bribed her deftly, " Just don't tell Ma-sa, OK?"

Adhya fell into the trap like a true glutton and ran away before her brother could withdraw the sumptuous offer. Her mother would never let anyone sneak candy to her. She swallowed the saliva in her mouth at she thought of gummy bears, marshmallows...

Abhimanyu waited for her to disappear from the hallway before entering the sitting room. Just when he closed the door behind him, he dodged something white thrown at him. The antique bust crashed into a countless pieces as it hit the door.He sucked a nervous breath, thanking his phenomenal reflexes.

" I was waiting for you to show up." Rivannah seethed.

She was wearing a diaphanous peach coloured sari that highlighted her greenish-brown eyes. The light filtering through the stone jharokas made her look like a nymph.A very, very angry nymph.

"You kidnapped me and left me here, again!" Rivannah said furiously.

" I didn't know things would end up like this." Abhimanyu quickly explained," Or I would never have picked you from your college. Nobody could predict Jayabadhra would put such an obnoxious condition. I'm sorry that you have to go through this, Rivannah, I really am."

" Your sorry can't stop Badi Maharani-sa from settling my engagement." she jabbed a finger into his chest, "You brought me into this mess, Abhimanyu Chauhan.Take responsibility and get me out of it."

" I'm at your service, milady."

" The moron who's asking for my hand must be on his way here." Rivannah rolled her eyes, a plan forming in her mind," I want you to act like you're my lover in front of him.He must be convinced to decline the proposal. And use your prince-cum-politician charisma on that buttwipe to keep his mouth shut.I can't have my reputation tainted or my so-called-family will taunt me to death."

" You want me to act like your lover?" Abhimanyu blurted with some bewilderment. She didn't know who the buttwipe in question was.

" Don't act coy with me." Rivannah gritted her teeth, " I wouldn't be here if it weren't for you. I thought my biggest problem in life was kissing my father's enemy. But, oh no. It's nothing compared to being sold off to some prick with a silver spoon in his mo-"
