Rune had spent a week in Regulus' house.

Or rather, in his room.

She had become intimately familiar with every corner of his room.

Her curiosity leading her to uncover the essence of his being in each carefully curated detail. Unlike her own tendencies towards hoarding, his space exuded order, each item purposefully chosen and arranged.

It was only on his desk that she found her treasure trove.

Amidst the clutter of notes and papers stuffed into the drawers, she discovered fragments from their shared history. She found remnants of their long-standing rivalry - notes exchanged during clandestine battles of wit, torn pages from textbooks bearing the scars of their intellectual sparring.

A solitary book, its weathered cover bearing the weight of years gone by lay at the bottom of a drawer. Amidst the ink-stained parchment, crammed with drawings and doodles, she found herself immortalized in the delicate strokes of his ink, her likeness captured in the intimacy of his sketches.

She spent hours lost in the intricacies of his artistry, tracing her fingers over the familiar lines that traced the contours of her face, the curve of her smile, the shape of her eyes. Her heart seemed to crack as she realized the extent of her presence within its worn bindings.

In every image, she saw herself reflected back with startling clarity - sometimes sitting in front of him in class, her attention captured by the dance of his pencil across the page; sometimes laughing, sometimes rolling her eyes at him, her exasperation tempered by the affection that bound them together; sometimes sleeping, her features softened.

Yet, amidst the myriads of moments captured within the pages of his book, one truth remained constant- in each drawing, he had captured her essence with a perfection that could only come from a lifetime of study.

The one night when he returned from dinner to find her paging through the book. Regulus had halted in the doorway, his eyes widening as he caught sight of Rune paging through his book. For a long moment, he simply stood there, his gaze locked on her.

When she had noticed his presence and looked up, she noticed him bracing himself for her.

"Am I your muse, Reg?" Rune teased, arching an eyebrow.

"More like my cautionary tale. A constant reminder to watch myself so I'm not led astray."

She laughed, her voice light with amusement. "Well, I suppose I'll take that as a compliment."

But he hadn't seemed to find any humor in the situation. He plucked the book of her hands, "Stop snooping or I'll—"

"You'll what?" she interjected, looking up at him, "Draw me even more?"

With a theatrical sigh, Regulus said, "I just draw what I see."

"So, you only see me?" A smirk tugged at her lips, "I'm almost on every page there."

I think you need to test your eyesight. You obviously didn't see all the other girls I also drew."

Her eyes danced with mirth. "The only other girl you drew is Rolo. Who is also my cat."

"Rolo is our cat," he corrected.

Rune's grin widened at that, but he turned away to stash the book out of her sight.
