The elevator dings when I reach the office floor, myself and a couple more employees flow through, chatter running into the distance of my mind and I make my way to his door.

I keep thinking about what he said yesterday,I barely got any sleep because of it. He's a jerk. A real big one, too. But what if he's right? Do I look confused all the time?
I keep meeting all these people I don't know who swear they know me. Closely as well. I keep putting me back in that thin mattress hospital bed,so weak I can't sit up staring at that grey ceiling, hearing all sorts of voices, stirring up my head aches.

People would touch me. Say their names with concern. Ask if I knew where I was,who they were and I never did. They'd always cry. And I'd always remain confused.
Sometimes I'd cry too. Because I was scared I'd never be the same.

But that wasn't true at all,two years later I was on my feet working as a waiter at my parents restaurant. But now it's a different environment and I'm afraid I overestimated myself.

"Watch where you're going, will ya?"one of my colleagues knocks into my shoulder breaking me out of my day dreaming state.

"How can I watch where I'm headed when I wasn't even moving?"I mutter, rubbing my arm as I walk to his office,I open the door and he's there. With his back turned as he sprays one of the many plants in his office with water. He has a sorts of them really, some green, some red and some with mixes of different colours. Short and stubby plus tall and sturdy. It looks a lot like a jungle, after a moment of me watching his back like a creep he turns around,

"You made it,I was beginning to think that you met with unfortunate circumstances."he says walking back to his desk. He's not in a suit today he's in a knitted sweater with a T-shirt. That's it. And he somehow looks better than those cologne ad models.

He's a jerk,sure but there's no denying his handsome-ness. "Frustration doesn't drive me to make hasty mistakes,sir."
"Good to know."he says leaning onto the table and wearing glasses. His glasses. I feel like I've unlocked the full premium version of Elijah Lewis right now. The Cinderella stories were wrong, glasses can make someone look hotter.
Flustered,I look down. And face the small tree on the centre of his desk,"Correct me if I'm wrong, but nothing is practical about having a tree in the middle of your work space."I mutter taking out files from my bag,

"I really hate to admit it,but you're right. That's why It's not sitting there but waiting for it's owner."
"And who's that?"I say putting the file in front of him,
"You. Its an apology gift,I'm sorry about what I said yesterday."Oh.
I stand there under his discerning gaze,"It's okay if you don't forgive me,but the tree has no record of sins. Accept it."

I stare at him then at the potted plant. It is a very cute plant. "Did you grow it yourself?"I ask taking it into my hands and placing it up to my chest,

"Of course I did."he tells me,standing and tipping his chin in the direction of the door to the left side of his work station. I follow him to the sliding door into a room with a white desk.

Multiple supplies are scattered in boxes or surfaces in the space. A laptop,a call-in phone,a mini photo copier and a desk in the centre. "Is this my office?"I ask,Lewis who remains at the entrance with his hand on the door knob. He nods and I stare at the window and walk towards it. It's a tiny version of the same view he has behind his space.
I place my sorry tree on the window seal and flick it's leaves. "Don't do that."Elijah groans with a stren look,

"Why not?"I press him with a frown,

"Because I can feel it."

"Seriously? You feel what all the plants around you feel?"
"No,just plants that have been in my close care. So for now, until you two get acquainted... don't shake things."he explains and slowly,I stalk backwards until my finger gently tickles the tip of the leaf and I watch amused at how he reacts. I do it again but more confidently,
