a/n - please voteeee! sorry for the wait
y/n furrows her eyebrows as she hears knocks on her door. "come in," y/n says, voice raspy. olivia smiles at the sound. the door opens, and y/n's dad smiles at the sight.
olivia feels her cheeks heat up when jack looks at her, so she smiles. jack smiles, "breakfast is ready downstairs if you girls wanna eat." "alright, thanks dad," y/n says, "we'll come down in a second." "thank you," olivia says.
the door closes and olivia looks up at y/n. "morning," y/n says. "morning," olivia smiles. "how'd you sleep?" y/n asks. "great. you?" olivia asks. "good," y/n responds. "so... should we head down?" olivia asks. "yeah," y/n smiles, and olivia sits up.
"good sleep, girls?" alicia asks as olivia talks to connor. "yeah," y/n chuckles, cutting her pancakes. "how about you two?" "great," alicia says, smiling.
olivia spends the day at y/n's house, before y/n's parents invite her to come along to dinner.
"what should i wear?" olivia asks, looking in y/n's closet. "anything you want," y/n says.
y/n smiles, olivia standing opposite her. "you look pretty," y/n says, fixing the collar jacket on olivia. olivia smiles, feeling her heart skip a beat at the compliment. it was a simple compliment, but she was so content with it. she's never felt that way when someone compliments her.
y/n looks around as olivia talks to her parents at the restaurant, waiting for their food. her eyes find a family of four, almost walking past her table. her shoulders drop as she makes eye contact with madison.
madison keeps eye contact with y/n for a few long seconds, before glancing at olivia, then y/n's family. her smile fades, and she looks away, following her family.
"what's wrong?" olivia asks softly as y/n's parents talk to each other. "madison's here," y/n whispers, staring at her hands. olivia looks up, looking around the restaurant. there she was, sitting with her family. she looked upset. it wasn't y/n's fault, though. y/n wanted madison to meet her family. but she couldn't help but feel bad for madison.
maybe she should just stop trying to be with y/n. she didn't think that madison would appreciate y/n the way that olivia did, but she still felt bad.
y/n glances at madison, seeing her staring at her plate. just before madison looks at y/n, y/n looks away.
olivia looks at y/n as she stares out the window on the way home. she'll talk to y/n when they get in her room.
"i just feel... really shitty when i see her with you," y/n sighs, both of them sitting on her bed. this makes olivia's heart hurt a little. "it's not that i still have feelings for her, because i don't," y/n says. it's been almost a month since that whole thing happened. "i just feel bad for her. she looks so hurt when she sees me, not even just with you. but she can hide it when she's talking to me," y/n says, "and i know that she doesn't wanna be with me, because she thinks i can do better." "y/n... you can't help her trying to move on," olivia says, "but you can be there for her." "i know," y/n nods, "that's what we talked about when she was at my car. she said we can still be friends, and i told her i'd always be here for her. kinda just... really cut off whatever we had." "is that a good or bad thing?" olivia asks. she was really going for the questions. "both," y/n says, "it's good that we figured it out before we dated, we weren't a thing for long. but it still hurts." "it'll always hurt when you care," olivia says.
they sit in silence for a few minutes, before olivia breaks it with a question that was running through her head. "why do you feel bad when she sees you with me?" olivia asks. "well, i used to feel really bad, but it's just, like, a little bad now," y/n says, "just because of what madison said." "what'd she say?" olivia asks. y/n cracks a small smile, "she just wants me to date you." "what?" olivia says, chuckling. "she said that she 'knows' i have something for you, and that you like me too, and that you 'look' like you like me, and that you seem like a sweet girl, and that she hopes that you treat me well." it felt like olivia had just gotten shot with every statement y/n said.
