olivia smiles as y/n walks into her room, holding a bag. "i missed you," olivia says. "i missed you, too," y/n says. "what's the bag?" olivia asks. "i got you something," y/n says. "you didn't have to," olivia says. "yes, i did for this," y/n says, sitting opposite olivia and taking the shoe box out of her bag. olivia looks at the box, and then at y/n as y/n takes off the lid.
y/n takes olivia's wrist, bringing her to the box. olivia smiles, pulling off the wrapping paper. "ice skates," olivia giggles, looking at y/n. y/n lets go of olivia's wrist, "the lake's frozen over." olivia's face lights up, "we're gonna go ice skating?!"
olivia and y/n get out of olivia's car, walking to the lake as y/n holds their skates in her hand. "i'm excited to skate," olivia smiles. "me too," y/n says, "i haven't skated in almost a year."
y/n and olivia start to put their skates on, sitting at the end of the booth. y/n finishes her skates, and y/n looks at olivia. she takes the laces of olivia's shoe, starting to tie it. "thank you," olivia says as she finishes tying her shoe. "how does it feel?" y/n asks, "too tight?" "really good," olivia says, "thank you."
y/n drops onto the ice, looking down with a sigh. "ready?" y/n looks at olivia. "ready," olivia smiles. y/n takes olivia's waist, letting her onto the ice before letting go. "got it?" y/n asks. "yes," olivia grins, holding y/n's hand.
they start to skate the lake, staying on the outer circle. "how's skating again?" olivia asks y/n. "good," y/n nods, "i... honestly miss it." "i know you do," olivia says. y/n looks at her. "when my dad was watching the hockey game... a few weeks ago, and you stopped walking to the stairs with me. i saw it in your eyes," olivia tells her. "yeah, i... i just really convinced myself i hated hockey when things went bad," y/n says, "avoided anything about hockey."
olivia nods, "well, you can't escape hockey if you're at my house and my dad's home." y/n smiles slightly, "i don't mind. i like it, actually." "i like seeing you happier," olivia says, "when... was the last time, you... you know? if you're comfortable with telling- now that i say it out loud, i don't know if that's something you ask. probably not." "no, i... i don't really wanna talk about it," y/n says. "i'm sorry," olivia apologizes. "it's okay," y/n says.
olivia changes the subject, "have you ever fallen on the lake?" "no." "if we fall, do you think that we'd break the ice?" "we? i'm not falling," y/n says, making olivia laugh. "you will as long as i'm holding your hand." y/n tries to shake olivia's hand off, and olivia laughs, holding onto her hand tighter.
"it's almost new year," olivia says. "yeah," y/n says, "i bet you have a thousand parties for that." olivia chuckles, "a few from my parents, and friends. not sure if i wanna go anymore, though." "why not?" y/n asks. "because i wanna stay with you," olivia says, then smiling, "or you can come with me." y/n asks, "what type of parties is it?" "well, my friends' one is, like, a massive one with a lot of people our age. my parents' friends' ones are... people their age. i'd rather go to my friends', though, for sure." "i don't know if i'm up for that," y/n admits. she used to go to parties before everything, but now she was scared she'd get overstimulated and really stressed out.
olivia says, "that's no problem. i'll stay with you." "no, i want you to go," y/n says, "don't stay back for me." "i wanna be with you all the time, y/n," olivia says, "plus, i've been to my friends' new year's parties for the past couple times. it's always the same." "you should go," y/n says. "i'll think about it," olivia says. she was probably gonna stay with y/n.
y/n and olivia end up skating for a few hours straight, just skating and talking. "you could just take a gap year for college," olivia tells her. "yeah, i have," y/n says, "a few colleges didn't want me anymore because of it, but i didn't care about them." "and the ones you want were fine with it?" olivia asks. y/n nods. "well, that's great," olivia smiles, "you're still going to college, y/n!" y/n takes a relieved sigh, "i just didn't think i'd be going."
