The tension in the room was palpable as the Straw Hats froze, their gazes locked on the door. The unconscious old man they'd been helping lay motionless, his raspy breaths the only sound breaking the silence.
Masira and Shoujou stood in the doorway, their hulking forms illuminated by the sunlight streaming in behind them. Their wild, animalistic eyes darted from one pirate to another.
“...”
A beat of silence.
“AGHHHH! THEY'VE COME TO KILL US!” Usopp's panicked scream tore through the air as he flailed his arms, running aimlessly in circles.
“GYAAA!” Chopper bolted in the opposite direction, his tiny hooves clattering against the wooden floor.
Shoujou's voice boomed like a thunderclap. “JUST WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE!?”
“And what did you do to our boss!?” Masira’s sharp tone followed, his muscles tensed with fury.
“What, you guys again?” Luffy tilted his head nonchalantly, brushing off their aggression. “We’re just helping this sick old guy, so scram already.”
“Luffy, you idiot!” Usopp’s voice cracked as he waved frantically at the others. “You can’t reason with them—they’re wild beasts! Everyone, evacuate through the windows, ASAP!”
But before Usopp, Chopper, or Nami could retreat, Masira and Shoujou’s faces crumpled, tears streaming down their cheeks.
“They’re… they’re good people!” the two howled, falling to their knees.
“It worked?!” Usopp, Nami, and Chopper collapsed in a heap, disbelief plastered on their faces.
Moments later, outside the house, the Straw Hats gathered with the monkey brothers, now significantly calmer.
“So, you guys live here too?” Luffy asked, pointing a thumb at the small, worn-down building.
“Well, it’s the boss’s house,” Masira began, grinning. “It’s also the main base for the Saruyama Alliance. But we usually sleep on our ships.”
“This house is way too small for us!” Shoujou let out a booming laugh.
“Maybe you guys are just too big,” Y/N quipped, a half-hearted smirk tugging at their lips.
“Compared to giants, you’re barely the size of their boogers!” Luffy added, grinning widely.
Shoujou roared with laughter, slapping Masira on the back. “Still, I can’t believe you sent this guy flying earlier!”
“Really? I bet you could do it too,” Y/N replied, shrugging casually.
“Think so?” Shoujou’s brow raised, curiosity gleaming in his eyes.
