The moment their feet touched the scorching sand of Level Three, a wave of unbearable heat slammed into them.

“HOT! HOT! HOT!” Luffy yelped, hopping from one foot to the other like a man dancing on fire. “The ground is like a frying pan!”

The intense heat felt like it was wrapping around them, suffocating. Sweat poured down Y/N’s face in thick rivulets. His clothes clung to his body, drenched in sweat within seconds.

“It sure is hot… and it’s eerily quiet…” Y/N muttered, his jaw tightening as he scanned the barren wasteland of Level Three. The ground was cracked and dry.

Buggy, already drenched in sweat and panting like a dying man, rounded on them with wide, furious eyes. His whole body trembled—not just from the heat, but from sheer rage.

“Level THREE!? What kind of place have I ended up in this time!? You two dragged me down with you AGAIN!!” he howled, fists clenched as if ready to beat the both of them senseless.

Luffy blinked, looking over his shoulder. His gaze fell on a massive, unconscious figure sprawled across the cracked ground—the very same monstrous beast that had attacked them before their fall.

“Oh, the lion’s out,” he observed, completely unbothered.

Mr. 3, however, was in a worse state. He stared down at his own hands in horror as the thick wax coating his fingers melted like butter in the relentless heat. Droplets of liquefied wax dripped to the floor, sizzling upon impact.

“This place… is really bad for me,” he muttered through gritted teeth.

Y/N swiped a hand across his forehead, only for more sweat to replace what he had just wiped away. His skin felt like it was being cooked. His usual control over the wind was faltering—his whole body was overheating too fast.

“Tell me about it…” he grumbled, frustrated. “I can’t summon strong wind with my body sluggish like this…”

Luffy, however, wasn’t paying attention to their complaints. His eyes had landed on something peculiar, and his entire face lit up.

“Oh! A grilled bird just fell down!” he pointed, as if he had just witnessed a gift from the heavens.

Buggy nearly tripped over himself. “That’s ridiculous!” he barked, waving his arms wildly.

Mr. 3 wiped sweat from his brow, adjusting his glasses as he followed Luffy’s gaze. He squinted, scanning the area above them before letting out a deep sigh.

“I’d wager a bird from one of the upper levels wandered too close to the hole we fell through… and it burned up from the heat.”

“THAT’S TOO HOT!!!” Buggy, Y/N, and Luffy all screamed in unison, their voices echoing across the level.

Y/N’s gaze flickered toward the shadows in the prison cells lining the walls—except… there weren’t any shadows.

Inside those rusted, iron-barred cells sat figures that barely resembled people anymore. Skin clung to their bones, their cheeks hollow, eyes sunken deep into their skulls. They barely moved, except for the slow, agonizing rise and fall of their chests. Prisoners reduced to living corpses.

“Look inside the cells,” Mr. 3’s voice took on a grave tone, his usual condescension fading into something closer to dread. “They barely even have shadows left… because everyone here on Level Three was once a notorious criminal with a bounty over 50 million berries. This place is no ordinary hell.”

He paused, swallowing thickly before continuing.

“The heat from the floor below us—the Burning Hell—rises up here, and the prisoners are tortured by the lack of water and food. They’re left to rot in these cells, wasting away. What you see before you… are what’s left of them. This is Level Three… the Starvation Hell. If we waste any time here, we’ll become like them in a heartbeat.”
