Within a few hours, Biao Feng had once again made some more astute observations. Seriously, he was amazing at this investigation stuff.

Firstly, Bai Wei didn't talk.

Or at least, he didn't talk to others.

That single sentence, spoken by Bai Wei before Biao Feng previously passed out, was all he had heard from the other. He hadn't spoken another word since. Even with the leaders of the base, Biao Feng would answer questions by using a text-to-speech keyboard. Biao Feng thought that it was quite amusing the first time he saw the device in action

It was during Bai Wei's report on the mind control serum. Five people, all very important figures in the base, stared motionlessly at a person typing on what looked like an unplugged keyboard for two minutes straight. Biao Feng thought he was losing his mind until Bai Wei finished typing and the device began to speak. Some of the words were even incorrectly pronounced by the speech engine but no one in the room acknowledged it. Biao Feng was once again astounded by the freedom that geniuses were afforded. They didn't even have to talk to others if they didn't want to.

The only person that ever heard Bai Wei speak was probably himself. An unexplainable feeling of joy arose up in Biao Feng's heart at this thought. He wasn't sure why ,but the thought that Bai Wei's voice would only ever be heard by him made him feel a weird sense of satisfaction.

Biao Feng was lost in his thoughts while trying to figure out the reason behind this feeling. He turned his back from Bai Wei while in contemplation and missed the surprise that flashed in Bai Wei's eyes. Bai Wei looked directly at Biao Feng for a moment before quickly averting his eyes and continuing with his work.

As an esper, Biao Feng had a higher awareness of his surroundings and naturally felt the gaze on him but found nothing when he turned back around. Bai Wei, the only other person in the room, was still working at his desk without any changes. He quickly dismissed his previous thoughts and went back to observing Bai Wei.

This led to Biao Feng's next observation. Bai Wei was weird.

Since coming back from the meeting, Bai Wei had spent his time writing in a small notebook. However, Bai Wei wrote no words, only numbers, astarisks (*), and an occasional plus sign. In this way, he had already filled over 10 pages in the few hours since coming back from the meeting. Additionally, Bai Wei showed no signs of slowing down any time soon.

Biao Feng was very suspicious of Bai Wei's actions. He originally thought that it was some kind of code, but even after observing Bai Wei for 3 hours he saw no pattern in the number sequences. Still, this was currently his only lead so Biao Feng put aside his thoughts and continued to look over Bai Wei's shoulder.

Maybe it was some kind of equation?

There's no telling.

Bai Wei continued writing until the end of the work day. By that time, Bai Wei had filled at least twenty pages. It was probably way more than that ,but Biao Feng stopped counting after twenty. At that time, another three hours had passed and Biao Feng still had no idea what Bai Wei was writing. Seeing no merit in continual observation, he temporarily gave up on this clue and instead went to observe "the other Biao Feng" or as he now understood his body.

His body was very obviously conscious, but it looked more like a doll than a person. It only responded to Bai Wei's commands and never did anything outside of what was commanded. At the beginning, Bai Wei even had to instruct his body to breathe every three seconds. Of course, all orders were given through the text-to-speech keyboard.
