Chapter Thirty Nine- Making Bonds

"(Your name)! C'mon! Need any Help?"

"Don't worry! I got it."

You stiffly held the pile of woods, that were threatening to fall any second, trying to peer you face to see where exactly you are heading.

Manic looked over to you, with his own bargain of timbers. He still held that everlasting goofy smile of his, as he peered at you.

"You sure? You can barely see where you're walking too!" he exclaimed, a flash of worry crossed his eyes before returning to his usual sillyness.

Right when you wanted to assure that you had everything on control. Sonic, had speeded to your side, already taking about half of the lumber from your arms.

"Now, now (your name), don't overdo yourself." sonic laughed to himself, shifting the timbers to a much more comfortabe position, before giving you his signature wink.

You pouted slightly, as the duo hedgehogs laughed. The three of you continued to bring the pile of woods deeper in the the forest, the one you and Manic were in, walking towards the spot Sonia had pinpointed for all of you to meet.

Once arriving, the three of you piled up all the lumbers on the ground, spotting sonia waiting silently on a rock, staring at her phone in boredom.

"Hey! Why are you the only one not doing anything when you told us to get these!" Manic complained, obviously not happy finding out his sister, who asked *cough* ordered *cough* the three of you to fetch these.

"Oh hush, i'm the one who's gonna set it up! Do ya want to sleep at the cold, dark night?!" sonia retorted back, annoyed.

She put away her phone, before getting up to start making campfire. "You guys should rest now, i'll take it from here." she spoke without looking up, setting up the wood.

Manic and Sonic silently looked at each other, before shrugging it off, and start walking away. Sonic looked back, asking you if you want to go with them. You thought about it, before you stared at the female hedgehog, seeing her struggle a bit, to keep the lumbers standing well.

You shook your head, deciding to help the female hedgehog instead. As the hedgehog duo left, you took your place, crouching next to the pink hedgehog.

She turned her head to stare at you for a moment, before she averted her eyes back to the wood she began stacking up.

"Is there any particular thing you want to talk about?", she asked, still looking away from you.

You weren't actually sure what you wanted to talk about, but honestly, you felt like you needed to get away from the duo hedgehogs for awhile.

"Nothing, just felt like helping you at the moment..."

"Oh! Well, you can help me order these lump of woods, if you don't mind."

"I won't"

And just like that, it was back to the silent atmostphere. Oddly enough, it felt much harder to speak to her than you had imagine. You never really had a problem talking to anybody, not even shadow or blaze were that hard!

Once you and sonia finish, you sat down, tired of crouching down for so long. Sonia looked over at you and gave a small smile.

"Thanks for the help, i needed it."

"It's no problem, i'm just glad i could help."

You gave your own smile, as sonia sat next to you. The sky had begun to turn to a vibrant of orange, red, and yellow. It was almost night time. Sonia quickly made the fire, saying it'd be really cold at night.

"So...", sonia said as she took her place to next to you once again, "i heard from manic the story of you trying to find the emerald..."

"You did?"

"Well, sorta, it's hard to understand anything he's trying to explain..." sonia sighed, as you laughed quietly to yourself. "But, i have a question i want to ask." she stated, turning to you as she spoke.

You looked at her curiously, "what is it?"

"...."

"....."

"....is there something going on between you and any of my brothers?"

And just like that, you almost crashed to the hard ground...it was either that, or you turned as red as a tomato.

"No! There's nothing going on between us."

"You sure?", as sonia gave a large grin, one that you can find similar to both sonic and manic.

"I'm pretty sure..."

Sonia laughed, obviously amused by your reaction, as she clutched her stomach from laughing to hard.

That night, you and sonia began talking to each other like lost friends, smilling and giggling at times. When dark came, you heard the shout of the sibling brothers.

"Hey! You gotta check it out!"

Manic yelled, as you and sonia turned to him and sonic, who was standing next to the green hedgehog.

Stepping aside, she showed you the hand made hammock tied to the tree. You and sonia smiled to each other, before heading to the duo hedgehogs.

Blinking your eyes, you slowly sat up from your sleeping position, rubbing your eyes tiredly.

You were surprised to find sonic looking panic, as he stood at the side of his own hammock.

"What's wrong sonic?", you asked, getting off of the hammock to stand next to sonic. Sonic looked up, worry flashing through his eyes, making you worried for the worse.

"Sonia's missing.."
