Mr. and Mrs. Mattews, Auggie, and I all gasped as Riley made her way into the Kitchen. It was now Tuesday, October 6th, and I was now sitting down at the table in the Matthews' kitchen with a big bowl of cereal in front of me. Riley was wearing a black dress, which made her look very depressed.

    Uh huh, life's like this

She took her spot right next to me, keeping her head down.

Uh huh, uh huh, that's the way it is

"Well, Riley, that's um, a bit different....," Mrs. Mattews stated.

"What, do you not approve?" Riley questioned, putting her head back up and looking at her mother right in the eye.

Mrs. Matthews opened and closed her mouth several times, not knowing what to say. I could tell that she was trying to think of something to say that wouldn't make Riley even more upset than she already was, just recently finding out that she has cancer.

"What your mother is trying to say is that that's not something you would usually wear, Riley," Mr. Matthews explained.

"Well, I don't care!" Riley snapped.

Chill out, what you yellin' for?

"Riley, isn't that the dress you wore when you were Morotia?" I questioned.

Lay back, it's all been done before

"So, what if it is?" Riley snapped, whipping hear head around to look at me, "Why would you even care?"

"Because I care about you, Riley."

And if you could only let it be
You will see
I like you the way you are

"Riley, why aren't you wearing anything colorful?" Auggie asked, "I love it when you wear colorful things!"

"Well, too bad because those days are over!" Riley announced as she dramatically whipped her hair, "Riley Matthews will no longer be the girl you once knew who could smile herself to death!"

    But you've become

    Somebody else 'round everyone else

I groaned. Not this again! I quickly shoved ten spoonfuls of cereal into my mouth before I stood up out of my seat.

"Riley, we don't have time for this!" I whined as I grabbed Riley's arms and tugged on it, "Now, let's go!"

"But, I never got a chance to eat my cereal!" Riley complained.
