43: On Top of the World

Chapter Forty-Three

    "Are you guys sure about this?" Riley quavered.

    It was now roughly around 9:00 in the morning on Monday, April 11th. We were no longer in Greece. We were now in Rust, Germany. We arrived in the country on Saturday, making this our second full-day here. Our hotel was just as nice as the other two that we stayed at, but it did not have as much tropical scenery. Instead, it was located right next to one of Europe's best amusement parks, Europa-Park, which is where Mr. and Mrs. Matthews, Riley, Auggie, Lucas, Zay, Farkle, and I are right now. We decided to come here so early because the park itself opens at 9:00 and we wanted to get here before everyone else so that we could get on as many rides as possible without there being any extremely long lines. We decided to come here on a Monday because most people's work and school weeks start back upon this day. By this time, most kids' spring breaks have ended already, meaning at this very moment, they are in school. Because of this, we thought that that the park would not be overly crowded, in which we were correct.

    As of right now, Riley, Lucas, Zay, and I were standing in front of a roller coaster called "Wodan Timbur Coaster", which was basically a large, wooden roller coaster with a huge drop and many twists and turns. Mr. and Mrs. Matthews had taken Auggie of to one of the kids' sections of the park to go on some kiddie rides.

    "Oh, come on, Riley, you'll be fine!" Zay assured her.

    "B-but I haven't been on a roller coaster since I last rode The Cyclone in sixth grade, and I'm scared," Riley admitted.

    "Like Zay said, you'll be fine, Riley," Lucas agreed with his best friend, "This may be bigger than The Cyclone, but you'll be perfectly fine on it."

     Riley shook her head. "I forget what it feels like to be on a roller coaster. I'm scared because I don't know how this roller coaster will make me feel."

    "Aw, don't worry, Riley!" Farkle chirped, "You'll have fun on this ride, trust me!"

    "And besides, if you get scared, I'm going to sit next to you so you can hold onto me as tight as you want," I chimed in.

    Riley flashed a warm smile at me. What I said seemed to make her feel better, but I could tell that there was still a tad of nervousness left in her.

    "Aw, thanks, Peaches!" She beamed, "I love you."

    If you love somebody
    Better tell them while they're here

    "Aw, I love you too, Honey," I cooed.

    "Alright, so are you guys ready to go on the ride?" Lucas asked.

    "Heck yeah!" Zay cheered as he ran straight in the line for Wodan Timbur Coaster, "Let's go before the line gets too long!"

    Riley, Lucas, Farkle, and I just laughed as we followed our goofy friend into the line.
