The Tale of Deviled Flowers

L E G E N D

Flowers purple, roses red,
how many leaves shall you shed?

Thorns thick, poisonous dread,
don't come close or you'll drop dead!

P A R T 1

One day from valley far away came Hildred
whom wandered around in her fine thread.

She ignored the sign ahead:
"Do Not Pass," it read.

She trailed along a path that led,
to a field in which roses were spread.

Purple and red, purple and red,
flowers and roses pulled at her thread.

Struggling for freedom, she cried and pled,
but not one person heard her screams in that garden bed.

P A R T 2

Hildred lay there with leaves on her head,
her skin pricked with thorns so she bled.

For days she lay there half-dead,
her luck diminishing as every night fled.

However, life wasn't cruel to the shred,
a prince was passing by with a horse that he led.

He wandered around his garden bed,
and shocked, he saw an injured angel in beautiful thread.

He carried her out of the field and said,
"Deviled flowers shan't touch women we wish to wed!"
