Struggles of an Empath

Hanging onto silver linings,
she always believed in bright sides.
Looking into the good in life,
she chased her wildest dreams.
Falling for a pretty boy,
she felt quite at home.
Feeling strong for all the right reasons,
she was confidently whole.

Gliding on sharp glass,
she cut herself in the process.
Hoping far too much,
she broke the insides of her.
Loving aspects limitlessly,
she was ridiculed from right to left.
Hurting her mind in any way possible,
she stopped believing in herself.

Listening to loud music,
she would try to cheer herself up.
Noticing the bad in life,
she was tired of the hate.
Remembering the words of the world,
she asked herself important things.
Questioning societies standards,
she wanted to understand why empaths must rid their beautiful heart-strings.
