Skies &Seas

There once was a girl,
pure as a pearl,
who loved the sky
but loved a boy even more.

There once was a boy,
a capsule of joy,
who loved the sea
but loved a girl even more.

She loved looking above,
something she'd never get tired of,
to check on the clouds
and his lovely face.

He loved looking below,
and going with the flow,
to check on the waves
and her lovely face.

Sometimes she would wander,
taking time to ponder,
and getting lost in the stars,
the Galaxy a place too big for them.

Sometimes he would wander,
taking time to ponder,
and getting lost in the waters,
the lagoon a place too deep for them.

She flew to touch the moon,
in the perfect month of June,
but all she discovered
was heartbreak.

He swam to touch the shores,
an experience kept behind closed doors,
but all he discovered
was heartbreak.

Both followed their dreams,
darkness is what it seems,
for not one succeeded
in the wandering world.

Love didn't tell her there was no air in space,
love didn't tell him there was no air in sea,
love suffocated them for eternity.
