Ch. 21: Sakura

Should I quit this story? I don't think many people read it so yeah..

I woke up to someone shaking my shoulder.

I opened my eyes and saw Kakashi trying to wake me up.

I tried to get up off my feet but the pain was too much.

I grimaced but I used the wall for support.

"You should just drop out now Sakura. You are severely injured." Kakashi stated, noticing my inability to get up.

"Sensei, I did not just do all that hard work to become a Chunin next time. I will do this even if it means me getting even more injured. I made a promise. A promise I will not break." I whispered.

"To whom was this promise made to? I'm sure they would let it slide seeing your condition." Kakashi murmured back.

"I made it to S-Samantha, Sensei. And I'm pretty sure she wouldn't want me to give up now." I gave a weak smile.

FLASHBACK

"The will of Fire is clear in your eyes. Promise me when times get tough, don't give up too easily." Samantha noted as I collapsed onto the ground, panting heavily due to my extensive training.

"You're right! I shouldn't give up just because I'm tired or have a few scratches. I need to give it my all!" I yelled as I picked myself up.

Samantha laughed at my eagerness and handed me another kunai.

"Okay this time try to pin me down!" Samantha ordered.

"Hai!" I answered, readying my stance.

"You Haruno's are too stubborn for your own good." Kakashi said while shaking his head.

"Its one of my best qualities." I grinned.

He sighed heavily.

"Look, I'm not even injured that badly, and I regained some chakra while missing out on Shino's match," I stopped when Shino looked at me accusingly.

"Sorry Shino, I really needed a nap." I confessed.

"Its alright I suppose. Someone will fill you in on it later I guess." Shino sighed.

I turned back to Kakashi.

"Have faith in me, I may just surprise you." I told him.

"Fine, but at least let the medical ninjas heal you first." Kakashi concluded.

"They can't." I said simply.

"Why is that?" Kakashi asked calmly.

"Rule 156 section 4 of the Chunin exams. No candidate may be healed or take any specialized pills before the last exam. The candidate must enter the exam ready and prepared with their own strength or health at that specific time. I thought even you would know that Kakashi Sensai." I teased.

He grumbled to himself about 'me not being ready for the last exam yet.'

"Do you know about the random mission I was just assigned a few seconds ago?" I asked annoyed.

"Not at all." He replied smoothly.

I scoffed.

I knew it!

He does know!

I pushed myself off the wall when I lost my balance.

I saw the ground come close to my face.

I closed my eyes and awaited the impact.

When it didn't come I felt someone's arms around me.

I opened one eye after the other.

"You should be more careful." A cocky voice spoke.

"I wouldn't need to be if I hadn't saved your as* before Uchiha." I growled.

I was already in a bad mood  and he's succeeded in making it worse.

"I wouldn't say such things if I were you." He warned.

"Why is that?" I said while raising an eyebrow.

"Because, I could  let you go." He smirked.

Well I couldn't see his smirk but I knew he was doing it.

He dropped me.

I let out a small shriek as he caught me again.

I scowled at the floor as he laughed.

"Didn't know the big bad Haruno was afraid of hitting the floor." He said in between laughs.

"Didn't know the big bad Uchiha could even laugh." I shot back.

"Under some circumstances it is necessary to laugh." He said emotionlessly.

"Well of course, I think your body finally got tired of smirking glaring or looking depressed." I teased.

He stood me upright.

"Oh, so now you're thinking about my body?" He answered.

I felt my face go red.

"That isn't what I meant!" I nearly shouted.

"Sure.. Is that why your face is all red?" He questioned innocently.

I turned an even deeper shade of red.

He laughed again. Then using his ninja speed he left.

Kakashi helped support me.

"Damn Uchihas." I muttered under my breath.

Kakashi laughed loudly.

We then started to make our way to the arena I'd be taking my exam in.
