"LUCAS!" Alice bellowed, "YOU SAID YOU WOULD!"

"I don't know, maybe I changed my mind."

"Lucas don't do this. I can't walk around with my dad every year!"

"But your dad's cool."

'Not as cool as you,' she thought, but what came out was, "He's so boring and quiet! I want a friend to talk to I want to be thief buddies!"

"I might not even be able to go anymore," Bella intercepted.

Alice felt bad, "Why?"

"Kayla has a stupid soccer game."

"I thought that match was yesterday?"

"It got rescheduled because it was "raining"..." She made finger quotes. Alice didn't recall much more than a drizzle.

"Well, you can always go Sunday. It's a two day festival."

"But the parade is Saturday!"

"I know..I'm sorry."

"No you're not."

"I am." She put on her best sympathy face.

"Okay, Alice. I'll have to ask my mom." Lucas concluded.

"You better," She playfully punched his arm. Alice could tell Bella felt the punch too.

"It's not a date," she whispered.

"No..I know."

"No, it's nothing. We are friends. FRIENDS!" Her whisper turned into a mini yell as her intonation changed.

"Okay, I believe you. Team Jeremy all the way!"

"Team Jeremy!"
