Girl

People were talking, but one voice stood out. The voice was smooth and deep, wrapping me in a blanket of warmth.

I let myself relax until I realise I don't know where I am.

"We're with our mate. He's taking us home." I can feel the excitement roll off my wolf in waves, but I ignore her.

I start shaking. What if they hurt me?

I hear my wolf sigh and she helps me shift back. As soon as I'm human again, I start screaming.

I don't like not knowing. It's scary.

The door opens and my mate appears, "Hey now, remember me? We're heading to my pack."

I let out a whimper, shivering from the cool night air.

My mate gives me a sad smile and hands me his jacket.

I make a burrow out of it, sinking into the soft fabric.

That is, until I realize there is another man in the car. I squeeze my eyes shut, silently pleading for mercy.

Nothing happens. When I open my eyes I see that the other guy has a large smile on his face, "Hiya!"

My mate let's out a possessive growl, causing me to blink up at him.

He shakes his head and turns back to me, "I don't know your name."

I motion for a pen and paper quickly scribbling down my name.

"Echo."

I'm surprised I still remember it. It hasn't been used in forever. I'm glad I at least can write my name, too. It may be the only thing, but at least I can do something.

"We'll get through this together, sweetie. I promise, and now we have our mate. He won't hurt us." My wolf whispers.

I hope so.
