I stood nervously before the front door. I took a shaky deep breath.

You can do this.

I peeked in through the large windows to see two boys standing behind the front counter of the DX.

Its okay. It'll be fine. Just go in and say it just like we rehearsed.

I wiped my sweaty palms onto the front of my t-shirt before pushing open the door and stepping inside. I sighed at the cool air that greeted me and calmed my nerves slightly.

"Hello." I spoke softly standing in front of the counter.

"Well hello doll, how can I help ya?" One of them asked leaning forward and winking at me.

I scoffed. "I'm here for a job interview."

"Job interview? You're (y/n)?" He questioned screwing up his handsome face. The tag on his shirt read Steve in cursive.

"Yes, is there a problem with that?" I inquired cocking an eyebrow.

The other boy pulled open a folder and flipped through it. His tag read Sodapop.

"It says you were inquiring about a job as a mechanic?" Sodapop asked.

"Yes and?"

"You're a girl!" Steve cried.

"Your point being?" I snapped. I knew this would happen.

"A girl ca-"

"Come out the back and we'll see what you can do." Sodapop interrupted Steve.

"Thank you." I smiled.

An hour later and now covered in oil and dirt I'd proven to both of the boys that I was appropriate for the job.

"I've never seen someone work so quickly." Steve nodded in approval.

"I'm glad I was able to convince you." I smiled sweetly. "So have I got the job?"

Sodapop and Steve shared a look before nodding. I squealed in delight before calming down.

"Thank you so much, the both of you." I grinned absolutely over the moon with the news.

The bell over the door rang through the store causing our attention to turn to the noise. A sandy blonde greaser walked in with the biggest smirk on his face.

"Who wants beer?" He hollered holding up a six pack of alcohol.

"Two, its three one in the afternoon." Soda (he insisted I called him that) rolled his eys.

"And just a good as time as any to get drunk." He grinned dropping the bottles onto the counter and cracking one open.

"Who is this lovely lady?" He only just noticed me.

"This is (y/n) the new mechanic." Steve explained. "(Y/N) this is Twobit, the gangs beer loving moron."

"You cut me deep Steve, you cut me deep." Twobit sighed sarcastically placing a hand over his heart. He took a swig of beer before bowing low before me.

"Please to meet you." He chuckled.

"Is he always like this?" I asked Soda and Steve.

"When he's halfway drunk, yes." Soda replied. "He's harmless though."

"Just be glad you ain't wearing a skirt." Steve grinned jumping over the counter.

"Do I want to know?" I turned to Soda.
He shook his head and chuckled in response.

"Well its a pleasure to meet you Twobit." I smiled at the half drunk boy.

"Now did I hear you're a mechanic?" He questioned and I nodded in response.

"A woman of the trade, I love it." He smirked.

"Are you hitting on me Twobit?" I teased giggiling.

"Now why would you sugest such a thing? I'm a gentleman." He bowed again spilling some of his beer onto the stained floor.

"No you're a giant kid." Soda teased leaning on the counter top.

"The ladies don't complain." Twobit winked at me before leaning on the counter top and looking at Soda.

"What ladies Two? Your mom and sister don't count." Soda grinned before running back into the garage.

"You better run!" Twobit hollered stumbling after him.

"I think he likes you." Steve teased chucking me a coke he'd grabbed from the fridge in the store front.

I rolled my eyes. "Do I start tomorrow?"

"Nine am sharp." Steve smirked. "Two will probably be here so dress nice."

"Shove it Steve." I joked before leaving the DX.
