"If we get arrested it's your fault."

"Yeah sure, just climb." Ponyboy replied giving me a boost, well attempting to give me a boost to reach the old metal ladder attached to the side of the drug store, extending to the roof.

I managed to grasp the cold metal and using my minimal upper body strength heaved myself higher towards the buildings roof. I ascended the ladder, soon reaching the roof which held nothing except a few air cooling ducts. The sun was just setting in the distance causing the sky to turn a yellow and pink colour, Ponyboy had wanted me to come here to see the sun setting, he was determined that it was the best spot to watch the sunset and that I should see it.

"Pony you're sure no one will be able to see us?" I questioned the green-grey eyed boy. The sun was still bright enough that if you were to look up you'd most definitely see the two awkward teenagers trespassing on the drug stores roof.

"I'm sure, I've done this a million times before." He promised swinging his leg over the roofs ledge and finally pulling himself onto the rooftop.

"A million times?' I inquired.

Ponyboy gave me a convincing look before slowly dropping it and answering, "Okay only a couple of times, I mean Darry won't let me stay out after dark anymore let alone to illegally climb onto someone's roof to watch the sunset."

My stomach dropped at the reminder of what Ponyboy endured and what had happened to both Johnny cakes and Dallas. I had been close with Johnny, we both had issues with our parents, his a lot worse than mine but we still managed to help each other through the situations at home. I'd never gotten along with Dallas, true be told I was scared of him, I was terrified of him. Anyone with an attitude and history like that had to make a few people nervous. I took a deep breath and met eyes with Ponyboy, pushing away the thoughts of Johnny and Dallas.

"Oh a bad boy are we?" I teased flicking his jacket collar up.

Ponyboy's cheeks tinted red as he smoothed his collar down struggling to create a coherent sentence.

"Relax Pone." I chuckled grabbing his hand and tugged him towards the edge of the roof. He pulled his hand out of my grip.

"Don't, this is my treat to you, I'm not gonna get flustered anymore." He spoke assertively. I was taken aback by his manner and words but chose to not comment on it.

"Sit, please." His face softened when he saw the confusion and surprise covering my features. He tapped the edge of the roof beside where he was seated smiling sweetly.

I comply and edge myself towards the roofs edge, close to Ponyboy's side. The sun had by now dipped lower consequently making the sky appear in lighter shades of pink and yellow.

"It's gorgeous Pone." I beamed paying close attention to the sky on the horizon as it the colour's of pink and yellow became lighter and paler.

"Not as gorgeous as you (y/n)." He replied looking pleased with himself.

"Smooth." I teased playfully, he chuckled and leaned towards me pecking my lips.

"How did you find out about this spot?" I inquired turning my gaze back to the colourful sunset.

"I was always curious, plus I read somewhere that the best places to watch a sunset from is atop a multiple storey building or something like that." Ponyboy answered watching the sunset with a thoughtful look on his face.

We sat in silence for a while. No sound but the streets below and the wind blowing nosily past our faces. I loved that about Pony's and my relationship, we could sit in absolute silence for hours and it wouldn't be awkward in the slightest. It was at the beginning clearly with us being the awkward thirteen year olds we were (I don't think the first year even counted since we only just managed to hold hands without both of us becoming blushing messes). Now we could sit and watch a sunset lost in our own thoughts or read books sitting next to each other and we would both find it comfortable and perfect.

"You know, you're the first person I've brought up here with me." Ponyboy broke the silence. My stomach erupted in butterflies as my head spun with the thought that Ponyboy trusted me enough and liked me enough to bring him to one of the places that he held special to himself and found peace at.

"I'm glad I was your first." I smiled entwining my fingers with his. Ponyboy cocked an eyebrow at my reply.

"Wait! That sounded wrong didn't it?" I asked feeling my face and chest heat up.

"Yeah pretty wrong." Pony answered trying his hardest not to laugh at my mess up of wording a reply.

"Oh," I groaned embarrassed, "I messed up." Ponyboy just laughed at my misfortune.
