Chapter 00

"Mom, have you seen my iMac?" I asked Mommy from the stairs. I was about to go down when I saw her fidgeting around her phone in the couch so I decided not to. I just stayed at the mid part of the stairs while impatiently tapping my fingers on the railings.

Mommy turned her face to me and spoke. "I think I might have put it in my office, Eury," she said, trying to amplify her voice. She was sitting comfortably. She didn't even bother adjusting her body to face me. She's in a nice and relaxing position, I would say.

With curiosity, I asked. "Why is it there?"

"It was on the dining table and I thought it was mine, too, so I brought it in my office. I just realized that it was yours when I tried opening it and it was secured with a password," she explained.

"It was there because I was doing school. I left it to take a bath. Anyways, thanks, Mom," I said and went my way to her office in our house. Her and Dad has their own mini-office in case they work from home or they have unfinished business as lawyers.

I was relieved seeing my laptop on Mom's table and immediately picked it up. I just remembered how I stormed in every room, except for this office, looking for this thing. I actually planned to enter here but I'm afraid I'd get scolded by Mom.

Instead of going back to the dining area where the internet is strong, I decided to just finish my schoolworks in my room. I placed my iMac on my study table as I turned my lamp and LED lights for calm vibes. I played Lofi playlist because instrumentals are just soothing to listen when you're doing something and it requires concentration.

I opened my facebook first.

I don't know. Every time I open my facebook, my notifications are just that as any of my other social media accounts, too. I scrolled down my notification.

As I busy scrolling down my news feed, one shared post from Luman Toenvile got my attention. It says...

Demeter State University's really awesome! The link is in the comment box!

Demeter State University? Ibang pangalan ng school, ah. Unique name.

Demeter State University is an elite and very rich school. It width ranges at about 5, 000 perimeter area. Though this school is a boarding institution, it provides its own market or a mini-town so that students won't be going in and out for their needs and wants. Thus, all in all survey says that Demeter State University ranks #01 in the top institutions in the country.

Woah... ang astig pala nitong DSU!

I searched for more deeper results at talagang namangha ako sa iskelawahang ito. Para bang sinasabi nitong... lumipat ako doon. Ewan ko lang. Sa current ko kasi, I feel like I won't grow up. Why? People there are toxic. Kahit kaunting kibot mo, may masasabi kaagad sila sayo. How can you grow in an environment full of hatred, negativity, and downgrading?

"Mommy... can I transfer to another school?" biglang tanong ko sa kanya.

"Transfer? Why?" ani Mommy habang may pagkain sa kaniyang bibig.

"Wala... new experience?" ngumiti ako. Totoo naman, I want everything new. New faces, new environment, new experience.

"Well, it's okay to me, in some way. I understand your side. Pero... sa Dad mo?" untag ni Mommy.

"I'll tell him naman," I said. "Pagdating niya..."

"Just in time," I uttered.

"Ano 'yung narinig kong transfer thingy?" tanong ni Dad at ibinigay ang kanyang suit at briefcase sa isang maid namin.

"Eh, kasi... I want to transfer to another school. I mean, Dad, I appreciate how you want me to be in a private school for me to be guarded and safe but, I'm not a kid anymore. Hindi na ako 'yung batang dapat batayan..." sabi ko sa kanila. "I want everything new. I want to experience independency. And I just found the right school to do that. Please?" I pleaded.

"Hmmm..."

Please. Please. Please. God, please!

"Okay," ngumiti si Dad. "Ako na bahala sa pagtransfer mo..." ginulo ni Papa ang buhok ko.

"Thanks, Dad!" I hugged him.

Dad kissed my forehead. "You're welcome..." aniya. "Anything for my princess," dagdag nito. I smiled at him. Best Dad ever.

Umupo na kami at nagsimulang kumain. We were talking about a lot of things about anything. Ganito kami, eh. We are a happy family. We don't do something na makakasama sa pamilya namin. And I am willing to do eveything just to make my family live longer.

They're my priority, anyway.

By the way, apat kami sa pamilya namin. Mom, Dad, ako, at Kuya Yuro. My name's Eurydice Eirene Danae while my kuya is Yuro Aiden Danae.

"Hey yo, pepol!"

Speaking of the devil. I rolled my eyes.

"Oh, Yuro, umupo ka na at nang makakain..." Mommy acknowledged. Sumunod naman si Kuya Yuro at kumuha na nang pagkain.

And our topic that was interrupted by Kuya continued.

I mean, for once, I'm not gonna depend to my parents anymore. Well, not financially but the other things around. You know what I mean? Embracing freedom?

And I can't wait to hug my freedom.
