"Her name was Anna," He said and looked into my eyes. "Or at least that's what everybody called her. Her real name is Annaleigh Graham and she's a citizen of France." The whole table turned to face us both and Justinan continued. "I met her while doing an interview for some magazine article my dad thought I should do to get France's attention focused on their new king and not the old one and his wrong doings. She was an intern at the time, a very clumsy one if you asked me, but she didn't let that stop her from being in the room with one of her coworkers while they interviewed me. I remember it like it was yesterday. I was 15 at the time and she had to have been around 19. She had just finished university and that day was her very first day on the job. Her coworker fixed the entire room up for me with rose petals and all of the foods that I had liked to make sure that I was comfortable. The doors were opened and I walked into the room with the coworker, who was walking on eggshells around me because she was so nervous. Neither of them wanted to say the wrong thing because I had a bit of a temper back then. I sat on the sofa in front of them both and crossed one leg over the other one because I knew we were going to be there for awhile. Dakota, her coworker, spoke up first and asked me how my day was going so far. I told her that it had been a long one so if we could hurry the process up that would be fantastic. She nodded and started the tape recorders. Annaleigh did the same and pulled out her laptop to start typing for Dakota. Dakota sat back up and looked me dead in the eyes and said, first questions are always the hardest. How do you plan to pick France back up after your father all but tore it down while he was on the throne? What are your inspirations for creating a better country? Will you need assistance from neighboring countries? I frowned at all of her burning questions but answered them anyways. I said, France has been in a country of emergency for as long as I remember and I'm sorry that someone in my family had to be the cause of it all. It pains me to see my people suffering the way that they are and I will do everything in my power to make us stronger and better than we've ever been before. I'm inspired by the workers here, the people that had no other choice but to start working at a young age to help their families. Annaleigh looked up from her computer, shocked I suppose because a 15 year old just doesn't come out saying things like that but hey, a 15 year old also isn't forced to take the throne. She typed everything that I said and opened her mouth to say something but Dakota cut her off with more questions. Why is it that your father chose you to be king? Your mother is queen so why couldn't she take over his duties that he couldn't fulfill? England's Queen has been ruling for decades so I just find it odd how we can't do the same. I chuckled because I was getting irritated and told her, my father chose me because I'm the oldest and most responsible one. My mother decided to step down with him because that's what good women do, stick by their husbands no matter what. We are France, Ms. Dakota. Not England. She looked baffled and nodded slowly. She also apologized if she had offended me in any way. Annaleigh took this opportunity to say something to me. Her voice was timid and shy but she spoke nonetheless. How can you be so positive that you're the right person to do the job? I mean, you're very young, your highness. Most young kings never last. I looked away from Dakota to Annaleigh, who was somewhat hiding behind her computer screen. I grinned and motioned for her to sit up. She quickly did. Yes, I'm very young but I have an old soul, as the woman that raised me tells me. I'm positive that I'm the right person for the job because nobody has ever done what I plan on doing for my country. We're going to rebuild it from the ground up and once it's done, no other country will be like France. This I am willing to bet my last penny on. Her red lips curved into a smile and she typed down everything I said. Dakota sighed and stood up to shake my hand. She said it was a pleasure doing this interview with me and that she hoped to see me sometime in the future to do another improvement interview. Annaleigh stood up as well, she was about 5'7 maybe? Way taller than me at the time. We shook hands and her eyes locked on mine and I promise you that was it for me. I rubbed my hands on the backs of hers and whispered in her ear to tell her to come to the palace tomorrow. At first she stood there in shock but then she agreed to do so."
