CHAPTER 2 (New Member of the Family)

-4 years had passed-

Every child that had been captured by the vampires had compiled up; one by one they're asked for their names and are sent to a place where they inject children's necks to obtain blood

"Next" The vampire commanded, the next child stepped "Yuichiro Hyakuya" His data appeared on the vampire's tablet "Ok, next" "...Mikaela Hyakuya" The two boys went aside still waiting for their friend "Next" "...Haru...Hyakuya..." She kept her head down; the vampire examined the tablet he was holding, her name miraculously appeared but no data was revealed "You..." A noble came out that caught the vampire's attention; Haru was able to slid past the upcoming trouble

After donating their blood to those vampires, the two had sat down on a cemented staircase; each with their liquid juices in hand. Haru just starred at hers, not even thinking of tasting the thing "What does this taste like, Mika-san?" The girl asked curiously "Why don't you give it a try? It tastes like heaven" "...You're joking..." Silence filled them "You know, you didn't have to come with us, Haru-chan...if that noble didn't came then you wouldn't be able to escape past that vampire; then it would have caused an even bigger trouble" "Sorry, Mika-san...I just don't want to be a drag to the family, you had been taking care of me for the past years, you even let me use your orphanages' surname and...I want to help!" "You can help, in another way that is" "But-" The other one had come, that interrupted their conversation; squeezing the contents out his juice while walking towards the other two

"What were you two talking about?" He asked "We're talking about how you're such a baby" Mika replied "What?" "Yuu-kun...do you think I'm a drag?" "...Of course you are" Haru stiffened a bit "Yuu-chan!" Mika yelled "You're the one who dragged her into this, if you just let her there then we wouldn't be starting this topic. We don't really need more people to look after" Haru felt guilt. Mika clicked his tongue then put his arm around Haru while his other is continuously petting her head "You're mean, Yuu-chan...go apologize to her" "It's alright, Mika-san...he was just telling the truth..." Yuu looked at Haru with his arms crossed. Mika sighed then gave up

"...Alright, enough of this, it's time to go home" Mika clasped his hands "You two go ahead, I'll catch up"
"Where are you going, Mika-san?" Haru asked
"Just...somewhere, don't worry I'll be fine...have a safe trip~"
"That weirdo..." Yuu sighed
Haru and Yuu had to walk back to the others by themselves. It was a quiet walk.
"Hey" Yuu started "About what happened earlier..."
"Hmm?" Haru stopped
"I...I really...didn't mean any of the words I said..." Yuu said with his back facing Haru; hiding his embarrassed face "I'm...sorry"
"You don't have to apologize, Yuu-kun...its fine to hate me...I haven't even done anything to repay you guys for everything you did nice to me...ever since that day you had accepted me in your family...I had never felt more loved than usual..."

~4 years earlier~

Haru's PoV
"Haru, it's time to eat!" Akane invited
"We're going to eat together, Haru Nee-san!"
"Yeah! Yeah! Akane made us curry!"
"Haru Nee-san!"

They all had smiles on their faces despite the fact that we're living in a devastated world in a vampire city where children's hopes and dreams are taken away
I sat there with children around my age; that I have no idea who they are or what happened before we're here
"You have to eat your portion too, Haru Nee-san!"
"Hahaha or else Taichi might eat yours!"
I took a spoonful and ate; my eyes widened
"How is it?" Akane asked
"It's...delicious..."
She giggled then thanked me, the other children started to ask questions about me...I wasn't able to answer most of their questions because I still couldn't remember

"It's alright! Now that you're part of our family, you can come to us at anytime, Haru-chan"
"Me? Part of a family...?"
"Mika Nii is right! You're always welcome with us!"
"That's okay, right, Yuu-chan?"
"Oh...sure..."
I smiled

~EndOfFlashBack~

"Then years later, I've grown with them, they had been with me through thick and thin...I found a very decent family but..." Tears were escaping my eyes "I can't hold myself to see you guys do the sacrifices, while I'm just there doing nothing!"
"...I..." Yuu turned his back. I smiled walking past him
"Let's go"
'She just wanted to help...huh?' Yuu had kept that thought

-At Home-

"I'm back" She smiled
"Haru Nee-san! Okaeri!" The children surround her as she entered
"Did they hurt you, Haru Nee? If they did, we got to wack their butts! No one hurts Haru Nee!" One said protectively
Giggles filled the room. The children adored her. They treated her as one of their own siblings, and it meant a lot to Haru

-Time Skip: After Dinner-

Yuu saw Haru sitting outside their door; he went and sat besides her "Waiting for Mika?" He asked. Haru made a silent 'hmm' not really giving that much attention to the boy beside her
"...Sometimes I worry why he always comes home late..." She muttered
"Want to go check back for him?" Yuu insisted

They stood then walked back to where they last saw Mika but on their way they caught a glimpse of a certain Blondie coming out of the huge doors of an enormous mansion. They stopped. "Mika-" Yuu quickly covered the girl's mouth "Shhh, be quiet someone's with him" They hid behind a wall

"You're welcome again tomorrow~" Yuu somehow saw who Mika's with 'A noble?'
"Hai...Ferid-sama..." Mika said drained

The doors closed. Mika lifelessly walked back towards their home; the two followed behind
Mika was about to enter back their house "You two can come out now; I'm going to find out sooner anyways" The spies flinched "H-h-how?" "I could hear you two from my back, you could've showed yourselves from the start, you didn't have to spy on me like that"

"So...that's where you always go?" Yuu asked "Yes, but-" "You know, you can be an idiot sometimes...next time...I can trade for my blood, I know that's the reason why stuff always gets here" "No one's gonna want to trade your bad-tasting blood for anything" "That's a nice point, Mika-san" "Let's eat, I know you two skipped dinner again without me"

Mika brought plates "I've got something important to tell you, but before that we need to fill our stomachs" "I'm not really that hungry" Haru complained "Me too" "No. You have to, it's an order" "Why do I have to take orders from you!?" Yuu raised his voice. Mika pulled out a gun then pointed it towards Yuu "Tah-dah, because you have to fight vampires with this. But you can't fight on an empty stomach, right?" "You..." "But this is not that big of a deal. Here! A map of this city! Even the exit is clearly shown!" "Did you get this from that noble?" Haru asked

They started eating. "The great Mikaela is no fool who'd just give the vampires his blood for free" "What do you plan now, Mika-san?" Mika giggled "We're getting out of this sick city" Both of Yuu and Haru stared blankly at him "Don't worry, I've got this all planned out. They might say that out there is only death but the virus doesn't infect 13 and younger and we're just around...12, there's still a year for us to save, us three, the whole Hyakuya Family...think about it..."
Akane went down "What are you doing? You're still up? Oh, welcome back Mika" "Alright, let's go!" Yuu grinned "Yeah, let's go! Akane, wake everyone up"

"We're going to say our farewells to this world!"
