CHAPTER 19 (Haru's Disappearance)

Haru's PoV

"AH!!!"
I woke up. I felt my face wet; was I crying? I could see a sleeping figure next to me. It was Guren. This place looked familiar, that's right. This is where I was taken. Guren's house. I opened the window and looked outside, it was night. I saw my reflection in a mirror; I was wearing a plain white shirt and shorts. I do look like the young girl...

'Was it all just a dream?'

The only way to find out if that dream was real...I have to see for myself...the playground...
I got up and carefully went out the door; making sure Guren doesn't wake up. I ran outside even without wearing any slippers. I finally got to my destination.

'So...it was...real...'

I fell to my knees, more tears escape out my eyes. The same playground at the middle of the forest, it was still there. Not really tidy and clean just like in my dream, or should I say...memory...so...everything was true...

'Don't I get any thanks?'
"Daitan...I don't understand...everything's so messed up..."
He sat next to me and hugged me while gently combing my hair 'Hard to believe in it, right? But it's real. I gave you those dreams cause you have the right to know the truth. I didn't tell you before, cause it wasn't the right time'

I stared at his features. I raised my arm at his face. He jumped a bit at my touch, but stayed still. I moved some of his bangs away and saw his eye; it was blue. It ended y conclusion that Daitan really is...
"So...your real name...Daichi Tanaka...Guren is my older brother? He knows about this?"
'Uh-huh, that's why I tell you that you two can never be together. What do you plan now?'
"I don't feel like going back to either Guren or my team...I'm staying here until I finally have the feel"
'...then I'll be right here with you...'
I hugged him; it caught his surprise. I didn't know what made me do it but, I felt like I needed it. He hugged me back.

-The Next Day-

Yuu's PoV
I had finished recovering and Haru hasn't showed herself up to us yet. The team decided to confront Guren
"Lieutenant Colonel Guren! Please! We need to know where Haru is" Shinoa said-yelled

He just stood while facing away from us. We were currently at a balcony of some abandoned building
"Lieutenant Colonel, neither of you or of us are going anywhere without knowing what happened to our friend!" Mitsuba said while drawing out her Cursed Gear and pointing it at Guren

We all did.

"Go on, kill me if you like"
"We can't kill you, you're part of this family, plus you haven't told us where Haru is" I said
He laughed "Me, part of your family? Then, what if I tell you I don't know where she is?"
My eyes widened "You've got to be joking..."
"I am not. She was at my house 3 days ago. That night she went missing"
"...Show me where you live..."

He turned around and made his way to the door. He stopped before exiting; he signaled me to follow him. His face shows dismay. I went to him

"Hey, we're coming too!"

Guren's PoV
She went missing for the 2nd time...and it's my fault again...Now, her whole team is searching my house like security police looking for a child's lost coin or something

"Guys, isn't this Haru's uniform?"
Shinoa found her uniform. "So she really has been here" They all looked at me suspicious "What?"
"Look, she left her Cursed Gear, too"
"Let's search for her, quick"

Yuu just stood outside while his hand on his chin
"Guren, do you know a place where it's quiet and perfect to spend a time alone? Where no one knows about it?"
"Uh...The bathroom"
"No, other than that"
"Why?"
"Haru likes to spend time alone; mostly in a place where no one knows about. She does that every time she's been going through something"
"...The forest is the only thing that comes to my mind"

He called out for the others "Guys, let's search the forest. Make sure to remember your tracks. We'll meet back here at sundown"
They all had gone their ways

"Ugh...Why do I have to be included?"
'Saying it even if inside of you; you could tear the whole world apart just to get back Haru. You care for her, too, just like her friends. You just don't want anyone to notice your weak side'
"Yeah right..."
'You know, sometimes I get jealous. It seems like you love her more than me'
"Of course I love her, she's my sister"
'...Not in that kind of love...'
I tensed a bit "...Shut up..."

Mahiru vanished. I decided to walk around the forest. It took about minutes or probably hours before I had ended up in an abandoned playground. It was empty though. No hint of Haru going here, she left her footwear so she's barefooted which would be tough to get traces of footprints. I stayed in the abandoned place just incase

It was already sundown. I went back and saw that the children were already there, still without Haru.
"Lieutenant Colonel, did you find anything?" -Kimizuki
"No, just an abandoned playground, there are no signs of her going there, though. How about you guys?"
"We had no luck either" -Yoichi
"...Wait ...the vampires said they'll come back for Haru, right? Couldn't it mean-" I interrupted Shinoa
"Chances of that is slim. She should've woken up if she had ever felt that. I too should have sensed that"
"You may have a point, Lieutenant Colonel. But what if she was still unconscious by that time being? How could you wake up? If she had ever ran away, you should've also sensed that. Vampires can work silent, not to mention the window that she's in was open. And it seems that your home place is out of reach from the JIDA...anything could happen..." -Shinoa

I tsk-ed this Purple-haired brat is 'smart-talking' me
"Let's put that aside from the worst case scenario. Maybe she just wants some time alone; she knows we'll be worrying about her. Let's just hope she'll come back. Whatever situation she's in" -Mitsuba

I calmed myself a bit. That's the least thing that I would rather consider. Well, if she was captured by some vamps, she would've kicked their asses, she has that demon after all- wait...she forgot her Cursed Gear......Ugh, what am I thinking? She can't be kidnapped!

"I need a rest"
