CHAPTER 24 (Don't Be Late)

Oh my god, I thought nobody's reading this story anymore! I don't plan on abandoning it; I just had a MAJOR issue of that so-called WRITER'S BLOCK ;-; Anyways, two updates for you, my dear readers

Haru's PoV

I yawned. Yesterday was such a pain in the ass. I need more sweet time with my bed. I groaned.
"Soooo...Haru-chan, you look exhausted...anything happened to you?"
'She seems suspicious...really suspicious...maybe she's the spy'
"O-oh...nothing much...I just couldn't sleep well last night"
"By the way, Haru, what time did you arrived back home? I couldn't wait for you until 21:30 (10:30 PM) where were you?"
"I was-"

The vehicle swayed. Four Horsemen of John appeared. It really woke me up it also saved me cause I don't know what to reply to Yuu.
"Let's do this" Mitsuba stood and draw out her axe "Come, Tenjiryu!" It killed some monsters at the back. Yoichi helped

More Four Horsemen of John are coming our way "Let's go, Yuu" I invited
"Way ahead of you" He jumped out of the vehicle. I followed and side-by-side we sliced the horrid monsters in half. Unsheathe our swords, then hopped back.
"An enemy! Kimizuki, steer to the right to avoid it!"
We landed on the road. 'Shinoa, I'm not in the mood to play jokes right now!'
"We'll see you two in Ebina!" They drove fast

I called out for Daitan. He possessed half my body. I carried Yuu bridal style (With the help of Daitan, I wasn't able to feel that much weight) and stepped on full speed
"H-h-h-hey! HARU!"

I caught up with them, placed Yuu down, and emit dark aura. I faced my back at them
"U-uh...Haru...chan...?" –Shinoa
I gave her a death glare, she shrieks. The road trip went silent. I can finally have my sleep......

-Time Skip-

"We'll leave here at 0700, arriving in Nagoya at 1300. Read the directive I hand out later for strategic details- Hold up there, you guys. You're late. Who do you think you are?"
"Well, Lieutenant Colonel, I actually realized that we're CEO-level-"
"Shut up, kid! This mission isn't a game! Leave if you can't follow the army's rules!"

Everyone's attention went to us. Both embarrassed and ashamed we were
"I apologize, Lieutenant Colonel. This is my fault" Yuu stepped "We were late because I took it on myself to fight Four Horsemen of John"
"Then are you going to leave?"
"No, sir! Please let me go! I'd like to take part in killing the vampires!"
"Then line up. But you'll be punished later...Everyone listen up. During this mission, I won't tolerate anyone who breaks the army's rules. I also won't tolerate those fooling around. This mission will probably be the most dangerous of all. Many will die. Everyone here is family. That means we'll lose many of our family members. But even then! The completion of this mission is worth it! Listen well! Our goal isn't to come back alive, but to come back with victory! Got it?!"
"YEAH!"
...
"Special Private Yuichiro Hyakuya. Come"
We volunteered to help him explain the truth but he turned down our offers

It was a few minutes before we heard Yuu scream. We ran up to him
"Yuu?!"
He was tied with fire below him 'This is an illusion spell!' Shinoa noticed it too. She draws her weapon and vanished the spell
"What kind of joke is this, Lieutenant Colonel?"
"This is your punishment, Shinoa. You let Yuu come here alone"

(I know, chit-chats are boring so let's go straight to the fight! :3)

"First, I'm putting the long-range fighters against each other; Yoichi versus Major General. Mitsu's demon and my scythe will hold off Colonel Jujo" -Shinoa
"So the problem is Lieutenant Colonel Guren" -Mitsuba
"Yes, only Yu, Kimizuki, and Haru can handle Lieutenant Colonel's moves in close combat. The moment he gets through you three, we're done" -Shinoa
"So we don't let him get through us" -Kimizuki
"Yeah, I'm gonna kick Guren's ass" -Yuu
"As if I'll lose to that moron" -Haru
"Then let's get into position" –Shinoa

We hid ourselves. The first attack came from Shinya. Yoichi shot but the tigers avoided it and went to our hiding places and destroyed them
The three adults went down
"Everyone fall back!"
"I'll create a diversion!"
Guren blocked off Mitsuba's attacks. Shinya shot again; this time Yoichi was able to hit it. Guren appeared from the smoke. The three of us stick with the plan and try to hold him back
"Hey, not bad"
"Of course"

Now, everyone's fighting their targets
"It's over, kiddos"
I quickly sensed something bad. I backed away as far as I could. Guren blow off a part of the building. Yuu landed on a red sports car, he jumped off right before Guren sliced the vehicle in half. I switched with Yuu. My lack of sleep really fades off; I couldn't help but grin as our blades clash
"You seem to be in a good mood" He smirked
"I just happen to have the energy" I could feel Daitan's power
"Hmm? I guess it's working properly"
"Shut up"

I hold him off
"Everyone get into formation with Haru in the center!"
"Oh, wow. Lieutenant Colonel Guren's fighting"
"He's probably punishing the newbie"
"Even so..."
"Yeah, she's responding to all of Lieutenant Colonel's attacks"
"You can't beat Lieutenant Colonel with power alone"

We did not paid attention to the talks of other soldiers. Guren backed away then threw me an explosion spell that stuck to my forehead. Shinoa was planning on helping me get it off but Colonel Jujo blocked her
"Give up, Haru. I'll blow your head off"
"Then I'm taking you with me!" I run up to him
"Whoa, are you serious? Just kidding, I saw that coming"

I stopped on my tracks as Shinya appeared from Guren's back and shooting right at me. I blocked the attack
"There. I'm through. All your comrades are dead now"
I turned back and Guren was already in the middle of the formation. The spell got activated, it create smoke
"Haru!"

Mitsuba got knocked out. I wasn't able to see what happened next but then I knew that they were defeated
"Jeez, you've got four Black Demon holders and this is all you've got? The nobles are far stronger than us. How do you plan on defeating them? So, as you can see, they're our first newbies in a while! Take care of them, you guys!"
"What? They have four Black Demon holders? That's some serious newbies"
"But without teamwork, they're useless"
My bad mood came back...so does my sleepiness...

Guren's PoV
I noticed Haru. It looks like
"What? You seem dissatisfied"
"No, I'm just sleepy" I groaned
'Like Big Brother like Little Sister eh?' At some point we are similar

Haru's PoV
He went to me and messed with my hair
"Wha-what is it?"
"You guys can become stronger. Work on your teamwork"
"May I speak, Lieutenant Colonel?" Someone came "I'm against bringing these newbies to the battlefield. They can't follow rules and don't have teamwork. They'll only drag us down"
"Hmm, you do have a point. Oh, I know. Then you guys take care of them"
"Wha?!"
"Shigure, rearrange the squads. Team up Shinoa's Squad with Narumi's"
"P-please wait, Lieutenant Colonel"
"This is Sergeant Makoto Narumi. And that's Rika Inoue, Taro Kagiyama, Yayoi Endo, and Shusaku Iwasaki. They're an excellent team. Let them train you"
"I'm fine with it but..."
"Lieutenant Colonel"
"All right, playtime's over. Let's go"
Guren left
"Well, nice to serve with you" I offered my hand
He stared at it for a second then shook it while gripping on mine a bit more harshly. He went back to his comrades
