CHAPTER 12 (The Tsundere Twin-Tailed Blondie)

'They stay in your heart forever, huh?'

Haru's PoV
I was in a playground; the place was old and is placed probably at the middle of a forest. I started to walk around in search for people. The playground was clean, though I don't see anyone. Not long did I hear a voice coming not too far, I went to check and saw two children; a boy and a girl, playing soccer

The girl had long black hair that fell to her shoulders, blue eyes, and was wearing a cute white dress; I could say she's around 4-5 years old. The boy had creamy-blonde hair and lighter blue eyes; he wore a plain tee and shorts, he looks 3 years older than the girl. I watched them as they played

The girl accidentally kicked the ball the wrong way and was sent flying towards me; it rolled to my foot "Ah, sorry about that sis! Could you please kick it back here?" The girl shouted. I nodded then walked to them "Here" I smiled then lend them their ball "Thank you, sis. You know what? Why not play with us?" She asked cheerily. I couldn't say no to that girl's face, so I ended up playing with them

"Hey, it's getting late now. I'm going home, I'll come again tomorrow!" The boy said as he was getting further away. The girl faced me "Aren't you going back to your home, sis?" She asked "I...Uhm...I don't really know where I am" I said sheepishly "You can stay with us! Our house is not too far away" "No, don't worry about me; I'll be fine, go on now" "Alright, will you come and play with us again next time?" "I will, I promise" I bent to her level then pet her head; she giggled "Pinkie promise?" and raised her little hand "Pinkie promise" I crossed our fingers. She smiled "Take care, sis!"
I watched her as she run back to wherever she came from 'Too bad, I forgot to ask her, her name' Moments later I heard a loud continuous ringing

*Rrrrriiiiinnnnnnggggggg* *Rrrriiiiiiinnnngggg* *Rrriiinnnggg*

I shot my eyes open 'Oh, it was just a dream...' I got up then did my daily routine. I opened my cabinet, I was about to grab my school uniform when I caught glance at a JIDA uniform 'That's right; today's our first mission at the front lines. We can finally kill vampires...'

I wore the JIDA uniform then attached my blade to my belt. I went to Yuu and try to wake him up "Get up, sleepy head. We're going to be late" I shake him "Ugh; can't I absent for at least a day?" "We have no class, today's the first mission" He went silent for a moment then energetically got out of bed. I waited for him outside
He finally finished "Took you so long" "Oh, uh-" He looked at me up to down "What?" "Nothing...let's go"

-Train Station-

We met Shinoa there
"Oh! Haru-chan~ your uniform suits you so well!" Shinoa gleamed "Thanks, you too Shinoa-sa" "Ah, I didn't realize that you're a centimeter shorter than me~" She got a ruler out of nowhere. A cross appeared on my head "And I thought I'm the shortest~ I had always wanted to have a little sister~" She hugged herself. I ignored her teasing then waited for the train.

"So, why are you here, Shinoa?" Yuu asked "I'm here to give you your orders. Vampires from the Kansai Region are planning on taking back Shinjuku" She replied "Ugh, I just want to get rid of a certain vampire noble" I groaned "You guys won't be able to survive outside the wall if that's your kind of behavior. Vampires are stronger than you think; killing a noble would take time even for a high ranking soldier!" "Yeah, yeah, whatever you say mom" Me and Yuu said in unison "Jeez, you two"

-Time Skip-

"Lieutenant Guren! I don't understand! Why am I placed in a squad full of newbie's? I've been in the Extermination Unit since 13!"
"What's going on?"
"New member?"
"Let's go" Shinoa went down the stairs

The other two were already there "Oh, Yuu! Haru!" Yoichi greeted "You're late, Idiot Yuu and Brat" "Idiot Yuu!?" "Who the shit are you calling 'brat'!? You four-eyed jerk!" I saw him clench his fist "Anyway, what's going on here?" Yuu asked

"I could at least understand if I became the squad leader to train these newbies. But Shinoa Hiragi with her stupid smile is the squad leader?!" The Blondie yelled
"Oh, you guys are all here" Guren faced us "Ah! You're here, Shinoa Hiragi!" "Yup, I'm here, Mitsu" Shinoa waved. The blonde tsked then ran up to Shinoa "Don't fight, Shinoa. Mitsuba's gonna be in your squad" "Of course! I'll be fine, Lieutenant Colonel. I'm mature, so an incompetent loser's whining doesn't mean a-" The blonde cut her off by pulling out her cursed gear "I'm gonna beat you up!" Shinoa chuckled then swung her Cursed Gear out, too. They clashed. Not long did Guren interrupted their fight then sent their Gears flying in the air, he held both of the girl's necks
"If you're gonna keep being a pain, I'll throw you in solitary confinement" He warned "Ooops..." "I'm sorry" The blonde apologized

"I'll head to Shinjuku in a different route. Before I go, let me make it clear. This is your new comrade, Mitsuba Sangu. The Moon Demon Company usually moves in five-man teams. Less than that can lead to deaths when encountering an armed vampire. From the moment you go past those walls, you will not fight each other and you will not fly solo, no matter what. Got it?"
"Eh? I can basically kill it by my own-" I sensed a powerful kick approaching. I bent down avoiding the kick, got a grip from my sword, grabbed the blonde's collar then pointed my blade at her "What's the big idea?" I asked with a dark look "Hmm, this one's got great reflexes. I understand, Lieutenant Colonel Guren. So you want me to train her, right?"

Guren sighed then face-palmed "First of all, Haru, put your sword down, second let go of Mitsuba, third, Mitsuba, don't try to hurt her, please. Ugh, dealing with kids these days"
"Anyway, these guys are your comrades. Comrades trump family. Protect them with your life. Now, here's your first mission!"
"First go to Harajuku. There's a settlement where the vampires hunt humans, making them livestock. Crush them and free the people. Then head to Shinjuku."
"Well, what are we waiting here for? Let's go kick some vampire's butts!" Yuu lead, Mitsuba knocked his head. I was about to follow behind before Guren stopped me
"What do you want?"

"Haru...before you go, I just want you to know...be careful out there..."
