"Don't you think Valentine's Day is a waste of time and money and effort and manpower?"

"Hmm."

"Do you know that the 14 of February is also Singles Awareness Day?"

"Nice."

"Do you know that it's considered a bad luck to sign a Valentine's Day card during the Victorian times? Oh man, I don't think we should jinx it."

"I know, right."

"I think I'm having an identity crisis right now, Chris, I think we should break up."

Chris puts down the book he was obviously not reading and sighs deeply with that fond, exasperated look on his face that just makes Zoey feel a tad bit guilty for being difficult.

"Zoey, stop trying to dissuade me from taking you out just because you're too lazy to leave the couch."

"But look at the weather, Chris! The sun is shining so beautifully, isn't it a perfect weather to stay indoors!"

It wasn't like she doesn't want to spend time with Chris going on a lovely, romantic date at some expensive restaurant that is packed with other couples that are also celebrating the day, it wasn't like she doesn't want to lie down on the crisp, soft grass to stargaze with Chris, it wasn't like she doesn't want to bask in the warm atmosphere where love is commemorated and affections are exchanged. It just feels too. . . cliche. . . ? It doesn't feel right to celebrate your love for someone just because there's specially designated day for it.

Zoey lets out a groan again at the thought of going out and seeing all the couples being lovey-dovey and touchy-feely with one another. Oh man.

Chris sighs again, with the type of resignation that says 'goodness gracious, you're being so difficult but I love you so what else can I do'. "But I guess nothing beats staying at home doing absolutely nothing that is productive, right?"

Zoey lets out a happy squeal and drops herself onto Chris' lap, sending the book he had in hand tumbling to the floor.

"The pages are going to get creased and folded."

Zoey snorts, "You don't even read."

She settles herself into a position so that her head is pillowed by Chris' lap and her knees drawn up. Zoey purrs blissfully as Chris runs his fingers through her hair, massaging her scalp every once in a while. She shifted to maneuver herself so that she's facing Chris' stomach(rock hard abs).

"You're purring."

"Nnngh."

"You're like a cat."

Zoey makes a low humming noise at the back of her throat.

"So I guess I can say you're a pus-"

"Do not complete that sentence or so god help me I'll defenestrate you."

"-sy. . . cat that is absolutely adorable and endearing and I love you so much."

Zoey glares up at Chris while he grins innocently and stares back with bright, twinkling eyes.

"I'm so done with you, good bye. It was good while it lasted." And she makes an escape to their bedroom.

With the intention to start up her laptop so that she can work on her projects, she approaches the desk that is usually neat and tidy but thanks to god knows what Chris has been up to, the table is full of scattered sheets of barely used writing paper.

Zoey huffs and thinks of storming out there and dragging Chris all over here to clear the mess away but then decided against it since she was too lazy to walk to the other room again.
