Chapter Four:

Justin’s POV:

It was the end of the day, and I couldn’t shake my thoughts about Selena, about what happened in math class.

When the bell rung I walked out and went straight to the front entrance steps to wait. I had already told Ryan what was going on so he knew—well thought I had a ride home.

I waited 10 minutes after school ended and still no sign of Selena.

I guess she did change her mind.

I wanted to cry but I held back my tears and began my way home. Should have known everything was too good to be true. I came to the cross walk when I heard a horn and a girl’s voice.

“YO BIEBER, GET YOUR BUTT IN THE CAR!” She yelled. I turned and there was Selena. A smile instantly spread across my face and I sped walked to her car and got in and she drove off.

“Sorry I was late. I spilled something on my shirt and had to change.” She said. “I came out and didn’t see you, but I knew you couldn’t be far.”

“I—it’s okay.” I managed to stutter out.

“You didn’t actually think I would blow off our hang out, would you?” She looked at me for a second raising her brow, then went back to the road.

“No.” I said simply.

“You did, didn’t you?” She said.

I sighed and said a quiet ‘yes.’

“Justin, I’m not that mean.” She said emphasizing the word that.

I chuckled and she kept driving.

The car ride was kind of awkward so I just played with my fingers.

“Do you like music?” She asked after an awkward—or not so awkward silence.

“Yeah.” I said.

Selena turned on the radio and ‘Super Bass’ by Nicki Minaj came on, and to my surprise Selena started rapping the lyrics, and she was good at doing so—and pretty cute.

After the song ended we pulled up infront of Selena’s house—or should I say mansion—this house was huge—and we got out of the car walking inside her house.

“My parents aren’t home, and my little sister is still in school.” She said.

“How old is your little sister?” I asked curiously.

“Six.” She replied walking off to the kitchen and I followed her. “Want something to drink?” She asked and I nodded my head and she handed me a coke.

“What elementary school does your little sister go to?” I asked.

“Waters Edge Elementary School.” She replied. My eyes got wide.

“Really? My—my little sister goes there too.” I said.

“Maybe they know each other.” Selena chuckled.

“I’ll have to ask Jazzy when I go home later.” I smiled.

“And I’ll do the same with Gracie.” Selena smiled back.

I just noticed, but I haven’t stuttered since I got out the car with Selena. Usually I stutter whenever I’m nervous—which is a lot—around a lot of people—especially Selena, so this must be a big step.

“Should we get started on that math packet?” She brought up.

“Sure.” I said shrugging my shoulders.
