Before I get started, I must explain the timeline of this fanfiction, since the whole Avengers thing spans over a lot of time (and movies), and I understand that it's not fun to be a confused reader.

This takes place sometime after the first Avengers movie and it slowly goes into Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
