Caden

I took hold of the door and after a moment of an opposing feeling, I let go, turning away immediately.

"What am I doing here?"

Though I'd contemplated greatly within myself in regards to taking this step, I ended up giving into my inner desire.

I'm here. I best get over with it.

In one swift move, I made a turn, took hold of the door, opened and walked right in. For a moment, I stood, scanning with my eyes for any sign of her. Finally, a light wave from her caught my attention and I began making my way to her. I couldn't help but notice how calm and elegantly she sat.

"Would you like something?" She offered and I politely shook my head.

"No, thanks."

I watched as she gracefully drank a sip from her cup and hesitated quite a lot.

"I believe you have something to say." I started, hoping she would get right to it.

As she looked up, her eyes met mine.

"Blayze hasn't told you anything, right?"

"No." My reply was straightforward.

"Just as you might have suspected, there is something between Blayze and I, something that goes way back... before you even became his wife."

I couldn't help the slight frown that surfaced between my brows.

"I was raised in an orphanage. One day, we met when he came along with his father on a charity donation. For me, it was like at first sight. We became friends and soon, something more."

I watched as she took another sip from her cup then leaned back on her chair.

"You probably never met his father. He was strict to the core. He wouldn't accept our relationship and just like every story out there, we tried to elope together but couldn't succeed."

Suddenly, she leaned forward.

"Why am I telling you all this? I want him back. I made a mistake in the past and let him go but I've worked too hard to become better. I'm wealthy enough to become his equal and nobody can say otherwise."

What?

"I know your marriage is fake, just for show. I can set you free. I can set your family free. All I need is to hear you say you'll take my side."

Watching her, I realised her gaze and confidence was strong. I couldn't help but wonder why. Perhaps, does Blayze still feel the same for her or is he over his feelings? I recalled their kiss last night. It didn't seem like he was over her.

I recalled how upset he got each time I somehow manage to make skin contact with him but he they kissed.

The truth stared me in the face but I also didn't want to believe it. I needed to believe there was more. There had to be.

I rested my arms on the table as I leaned forward.

"What if I say no? What if I tell you I won't give him up? According to the law, he's my husband."

Wow, Caden.

The momentary crease between her brows showed she never expected my question.

"Why wouldn't you? Perhaps, do you by any chance have feelings for him?'

I drew in a deep breath as I looked anywhere else for a minute. She was replying my question with question. A light chuckle from her drew my attention back.

"You couldn't have fallen in love with your captor."

My glare was hard and filled with annoyance.

"Oh, you did." She was quick to catch on alongside a light chuckle.

"Doesn't matter. It doesn't change anything for me. I'll keep fighting for Blayze till I'm sure his feelings for me are permanently gone."

I narrowed my eyes at her.

"Are you saying you'll give up once he lets you know his feelings for you are gone?" I had to repeat.

She hesitated. "Yes."

A strange sigh of relief was let out on my part. I watched as she stood to her feet and stretched out a hand for handshake. Though hesitant, I accepted it.

"May the best woman win." She proclaimed before letting go of the handshake and soon she was on her way out of the shop.

I ran a hand through my hair.

What the hell am I doing? Did I really just argue about a man?

I leaned back on my seat.

I shouldn't have argued or made a statement. I do not believe that Blayze has any feelings for me and yet, I rode on a strange confidence. Perhaps, it was simply the thought of giving up without a fight.

What happens now?

Blayze

I took a glance at the clock once more and let out a sigh afterwards. Why isn't she back already? The sun was setting and yet not even a call from her.

Is she alright?

She clearly stated she wasn't going to stay out too long. I picked up my phone and debated on calling her. In the end, I set it back down and decided to focus all my attention on the work before me. Yet, I haven't been able to concentrate since she left. I'd barely gotten anything done.

Why is she making me worry so much?

This was a feeling I wasn't quite accustomed to, worrying about another human. In the end, I picked up my phone once more and went straight to the contact list. I spotted her name out of the lot. My mind was in turmoil on whether to go ahead or not. Finally, I dialled and brought it close to my ear. It rang for a while but no response came through. I redialled and the same happened.

I decided to leave a message.

I contemplated a lot on what to write. I didn't want to sound worried even though I am and I also didn't want to sound interested, thought that was the opposite as well. All I really needed was a reply from her to confirm her safety.

You said you weren't going to stay out too long...

The sentence does make me seem worried. I shook my head and had it all erased.

Do you plan to spend the night out?

I stared at the new sentence once more and eventually clicked send. I waited for a while for her response but nothing came through. Feeling stupid and silly, I soon abandoned the phone on the table. An alert came through and I hurried to pick it up.

Why? Do you miss me already?

A sigh of relief left my lips having read her reply. She was safe.

I'll soon be back.

She left another message.

I relaxed on my seat. Will I be able to hide my feelings? I can't seem to recognize myself anymore,

Fine, I'll simply display it all, just for today.
