Chapter Seventeen

Tia.

       The look on Scott's face said it all,something was very wrong.

         "Scott?" Stella McAllister asked "what's wrong? Is Jo OK? Com'on son,say something!"

          Everyone looked at Scott's face eagerly.

           Scott hugged his mother and whispered for only her,the guys and I to hear "Jo says she loves you very much mum. And that don't make a fuss at her funeral and don't cry because she's the one supposed to cry for us since we're stuck in this crappy world."

             Mrs McAllister stood still for a while after Scott loosened his embrace and when she opened her mouth to scream Scott said "she wanted to die so tell them to leave her be."

                He then walked away.

              I watched as the guys looked at each other communicating silently,then followed him.

           Jodie's funeral was a very solemn one.

         Isaac and his mum tried hard not to cry though. Isaac read his mum's tribute to Jo and Levi read Isaac's.

         I couldn't help myself though. Stella asked for me to sing oceans by Hillsong since it was Jodie's favourite and I almost broke down.

         Things went back to normal after a few weeks. The people in school stopped talking about Jodie and moved on to the latest scandal,studies went on as we prepared for our terminal exams. Though I saw the guys and said hi,I didn't see Scott.

         "Doesn't he care about the exams?" I worriedly confined to Liza.

           "People deal with grief in different ways Tia. And that guy is not just a music prodigy,but a tech whiz. He'll not just show up to write the exam but he'll ace it. Lahar does that all the time,wonder why he's a science student."

             "Scott's a science student?" I asked in shock.

                "No. Isaac is. Scott is a music major. He does sound engineering so he's physics based. Isaac does everything but Biology. He took it for a term but skipped all the classes and showed up only to write the exam and passed. Next term he replaced it with geography."

                I tuned Liza out after that. Whether Scott was a genius or not I had to see him.

              "What are we talking about?" Nicci asked cheerfully as she approached us with Cloe.

              "Definitely not Luke." Liza said teasingly. "Scott's mysterious absence from school."

              "Oh so now it's back to Scott?" Chloe lashed out spitefully.

               I looked at her in surprise and the others looked away.

               "What do you mean?" I questioned.

               "You can quit your innocent act,preacher girl. We all know that you've been having an intercourse with all of them that's the only reason they allow you to hang out with them. The whole school knows. Wonder how your father will react. But then again you don't have a mother and he's quite young... Maybe the teenage parenting is in the blood." She continued. "Good luck not catching STDs because you're not the only one they have sex with you know."
