A Showdown In Silence

  • Dedicated to John Wayne, whom I consider the best western actor of all times

Everything goes silent

People gather 'round

Watching and waiting

Yet still not a sound

The sun beating down

Men stand and face

The wind picks up

Dust dances with grace

A glare of hard steel

Passing from eye to eye

Not a muscle is moving

But the sun in the sky

One man suddenly moves

As swift as a fox

Draws his pistol and shoots

Deaths hand locks

A man in mid draw

Dies in a second

He should have listened

When forgiveness beaconed
