When You're Hurting

47 1 2

When you're hurting,

And when you feel alone,

When you're hurting,

And you have nobody to turn to.

When you can't depend on family,

And when it hurts to go home,

When you tell your friends,

And it doesn't seem to help,

When nothing is working,

And you turn to cutting,

It's not going to help,

It will just make things worse.

When all this is happening,

And you feel completely helpless and alone,

Though you seem so alone,

Even though you're in the darkest place,

You never are alone.

There's always one there,

One who always cares,

He knows what's hurting you,

He understands your pain,

He wants to be your friend,

He wants to heal you of this pain,

All this pain you're feeling,

All the fear you face each day,

All your sorrows and worries,

All your burdens and pains.

There's one who knows them,

Every last one of them,

And he wants to take them from you,

He wants you to be care free and trust in him,

He wants to be your friend,

But yet he wants much more,

He wants to be a loving father,

A father you can count on,

And a father you can turn to.

Someone you can tell your worries to,

Someone who will always be there,

No matter what happens,

No matter how tough your pain,

He'll be the shoulder you can cry on,

He'll be the one you can tell your secrets,

He'll be the one who won't abandon you,

He'll be a warm comforting embrace,

And all you need to do is ask.

Your troubles won't be gone,

But with Christ they'll be easier to bare,

If you trust him now, and believe in him,

Believe he died to take your sins,

Then trust your sorrow with him,

Cast your cares on Christ in prayer,

Then your brothers and sisters in Christ,

Though you may not know them, they're here,

A friend of a friend, ready to help,

Daily praying for your walk with Christ,

And daily praying for your life each day.

Your friends are there, and so are we,

But better yet, such a friend is he.

He who waits and watches,

Who loves with unending love,

And watches over you,

Day after day, hurt after hurt,

And worry after worry,

So when you're hurting,

He is ready and willing,

To stand by your side,

And lift you up when you fall,

The best friend by your side,

And the loving father you may never have known,

Who was and is and always will be with you.
