One Big Series of Unfortunate Events

One time you told me,

That you feel like a curse.

I imagine the feeling,

And I imagine it hurts.

Six years past,

The day you were born,

The twin towers fell,

And this country was torn.

The best Christmas you'd ever,

had in your life,

A Tsunami struck islands,

Causing much strife.

On your half birthday 2011,

An  earthquake shook Japan,

Killing defensless people,

All in a short time span.

You used to believe these things,

Were connected to you,

Like you were the cause,

But what did you do?

"One big series of unfortunate events",

Is how you viewed your life to me,

You looked on the downside with pain,

But not for the light you wanted to see.

"Or maybe", I said, "God has a plan",

A plan of love for your life and not harm,

Maybe, he's preparing you for a challenge to come,

And saving you from any alarm.

You told me that day,

That you were seeing it too,

God's working in your life today,

Preparing you for tasks he'll have you do.

And in the year I've known you,

I can see a change,

You're closer to God in all you do,

And you're not nearly as strange!

So no matter how you used to feel,

No matter what you're told,

With God you can so anything,

And you're forming to his mold.

Your life is not simply as you thought,

Through all the things God has tested you with,

And the happiness you have always sought,

God has given you many a gift!
