I apply my last earring then look in the mirror, turning around and looking over my shoulder I look at my backside to make sure that I zipped the dress properly.
I stare in the mirror for a few minutes to see if I'd see anything and for the first time in years I haven't, I guess after claiming my powers and leaning how to deal with them paid off.
When I hear a knock on my bedroom door I go and answer it to see Larkin on the other side of it, "You look nice cousin" he comments as he reaches for my hand. I take it and let him lead me down the stairs where the rest of our family were waiting for us.
"Jayln sweetie can you help me with this" Aunt Tiffany says entering the dinning room. I let Larkin's hand go and walk over to her. We begin to place the dishes along the table and Aunt Del walks in with a pan of food, she places it down on the table the disappears into the kitchen.
After the dishes are perfectly placed along the table Aunt Tiffany and I go into the kitchen and help assist Aunt Del. I grab the glass bowl of collard greens and walk back into the dinning room but stop in my tracks when I see Ridley, my cousin that was claimed by the darkness years ago standing beside Terrance.
"Macon!" I shout, a few minutes later he enters and looks over at Ridley.
"I don't recall inviting you" Macon says approaching Ridley, she smiles at him and removes her sunglasses enposing her golden colored eyes which was a trait she got after claiming the darkness.
"We're family aren't we and this is a family gathering right" she tells him, I place the bowl down and approach her. I see Terrance move his lips but there's no words coming out of his mouth.
"What did you do to him?" I ask eyeing her up and down.
"I invited him to dinner, something you should've done" I step closer to her and raise my hand, really to throw her across the room with the flick of a finger but Aunt Del grabs me.
"Don't let your emotions get the best of you, she can do no harm in this house my child" she assures me as she leads me over to me seat forcefully making me sit down.
"Now, are you sure about that Auntie, I am more powerfully that everyone in this room" Ridley teases.
"Your sinful power is useless under this roof" Macon tells her, "Tiffany can you go get some plates and eating utensils for our uninvited guests."
Ridley let's out a laugh as she grabs Terrance's arm and leads him to a seat right across from me. I watch as his lips continue to move without the slightest sound coming out of them. Ridley must've placed a silencing spell on him, one that I couldn't remove since I wasn't the person who casted it.
