The shrill scream of an alarm clock woke Carter up with a startle, her body jolting upward in bed with the blankets wrapped tightly around her small frame. She quickly stumbled out of bed and escaped to the bathroom, red locks sticking up everywhere. In the mirror, Carter stood with tired eyes. Her shirt hung off her shoulder, and her hair literally stuck to her face and in the air. She grimaced at the sight before playfully sticking her tongue out at herself. Yawning, she attempted to comb through the tangles of her hair, and left it natural– wavy. She then started on her teeth, using her bubbly whitening toothpaste that caused her tongue to tingle. That didn't take long, and she began her simple makeup routine.

With a light brownish orange lid and mascara, plus her light pink highlighter, she was finished. She dressed herself in a nice pair of jeans and a black long sleeved shirt, along with her brown combat boots. As she looked at herself in the mirror, she became satisfied. After she was successfully dressed, she snatched her phone off the bedside table and jogged down the stairs to the occupied kitchen. Her mother had prepared breakfast and the whole crew was sitting at the island, snacking on pancakes. "Good morning," she hummed, grabbing a pancake and a few pieces of sausage to put on a plate. "Good morning, darling," Margaret greeted, wiping Heather's mouth.

They all ate in silence, unsure of what to talk about. Today was Carter's first day at a new school and no one knew what to talk about. After she finished scarfing down her food, she got up, put her dish in the sink and left. She kissed her mother on the cheek, grabbed her keys, and left the property. While she was buckling into her seat, her phone began ringing, vibrating against her side. Struggling, she slipped the cell out of her pocket and slid the bar to answer. "Hello," she spoke into it, holding it between her ear and shoulder as she cranked my car. "Is this Carter? Strawberry blonde, really pretty green eyes?" a male spoke into the phone. She laughed softly, "Matt?" Her cheeks were turning pink.

He hummed in response, a laugh following. "The one and only.. Uh, hey," he responded. She rolled her eyes, now backing out of the driveway. "Hey, what's up?" The sun was bright, shining high in the sky. It looked beautiful within the pink swirls mixed with the yellows and blues in the sky. "Not much. I was just wondering about what time you'll be at the school. I don't want to, um, leave you hanging." She smiled at his generosity, biting down on her lip. The gravel beneath her tires slung behind her as she curved onto the road. "Carter?" She hummed, finally realizing she hadn't responded. "Oh! I'm sorry, Matt. I should be there in twenty minutes. I'm actually driving right now." She couldn't focus just on the road. The scenery in this place was beyond beautiful.
