"Does your phone ever stop ringing?" Katherine groaned, digging through the back pocket of Carter's jeans to fish out her cellphone. "Ooh, Damon Salvatore. Decline." She rotated back in front of the strawberry blonde, smirking. "And more missed calls from Stefan Salvatore. You must have the two wrapped around your little fingers." She glared harshly at the vampire, trying to break free from Bailey's grasp. But, like she had expected, Bailey was no longer human. "You can say it, you know." A sour laugh spilled past the girl's full lips. "Really?" she asked in disbelief.

"Yeah. It's okay to love them both. I did."

"I don't love them both. I don't... I never compelled their love, or whatever they feel for me. I'm nothing like you, Katherine."

She gripped her face tight in her hand, veins sprouting from beneath her eyes. "I didn't compel Stefan. His love was real," she growled, her fangs beared angrily at the banshee. In her mind she was trembling in fear. She was begging for her to let her go, to let her live, but on the outside she was strong. She was staring back at her because she had been through this before. She had been through having her life threatened plenty of times, it was beginning to get boring. "That's not what he thinks. He wants you dead." Carter felt her nails dig into the skin on her face, but the pain lessened when Bailey grabbed her wrist.

"We need her, remember? Just relax." The strawberry blonde glared at Bailey with pure disgust. "Why would you need me?" Katherine grinned painfully, releasing the girl from her grasp. She struggled against the rope confining her wrists, tying her to the back of that stupid black van. "I just need to know what they are doing. I need to know if I'm safe." Carter scoffed. "You? Safe? Why would I care? For what feels like forever, I've been helping Damon get that damn tomb open so he could save you and love you, but you weren't there.

"I lost so many people, and I've almost been killed about six times. Why would I help you?" she vented, her voice hysterical. She had given up. She didn't understand the purpose of fighting anymore. She was in love with people she could never have. Tears began to build up in her eyes as she laughed at the irony. "I'm done caring. If you want to kill me, kill me. Get it over with." Bailey rolled her eyes at her old friend. "I didn't have a choice to die. I was only sixteen. You have a choice–"

"And I'm choosing–"

She cut her off with a hard slap to her cheek, causing Carter to cry out in pain. "Screw you," she hissed. The girl stared at her in shock, her eyes glassy with tears. The whole day had been eventful. Her life in Mystic Falls had been eventful. "You may not have had a choice then, but you did now. And you still chose to leave me behind." Bailey's eyes glistened with tears as she stared down at the strawberry blonde. Carter was her person. She was the one person she could truly count on, and she was gone. Hatred bubbled behind those forest gemstone eyes, her jaw tense as she fought back tears. "You had a choice, Bailey. I needed you. I—"

Katherine was quick to step in. Her hands ran along the length of Bailey's arms smoothly, her lips centimeters from the girl's ear. Her charcoal eyes not once broke the glare Carter and she held. Bailey turned slowly, her arms wrapping around Katherine's torso. "I'm going to get Stefan back, and no one can stop me. And if I find out you told your little friends that you saw me, I'll have no other choice than to kill them." Katherine's lips curled into a smirk as she stared down at the broken little girl.

She looked so much like Elena, yet she looked so different. Katherine had hundreds of years of torment and you could see it in her eyes. She didn't have the same innocence Elena had, or even a fraction of it. "Okay," Carter agreed. She had to keep my friends safe. "And if I find out you told Damon or Stefan, I will kill you, and it won't be quick. You'll suffer for as long as I feel necessary." While talking, she had moved her face closer to Carter's. The midnight colored eyes pierced her green ones with pure hatred and. . .evil. She swallowed thickly, fighting back the oncoming tears. She was not going to give them the satisfaction of scaring her. Sure, she was scared shitless, but she wasn't going to let them know that.

"Got it?" she interrogated, earning a nod in response. "Good. Now," she paused, slashing the rope from her wrists, "run along. Go get some rest and go home. I'll see you soon." She slung her arm over Bailey's shoulders, the two ignoring the strawberry blonde as she fought the ropes from her wrists. She stalked away moments after. She had to tell someone. She needed to tell someone, but she couldn't. As soon as she was far enough away from the two vampires, she broke out into a sprint. She ran and ran until the tears blurred her vision and she was dry heaving on the side of the road.

Fear soaked her bones like a burning tar, dragging them closer and closer to hell. She was stuck, and she had no one to pull her out. The woods around her were quiet and dark, leaving her to wonder whether she was dreaming or it was all real. She pulled her cellphone out of her pocket, immediately dialing Jackson's number blindly. "About time. Are you ready for me to come get you?" She hesitated. She wanted to scream for him to take her home. She wanted to beg for Damon. She wanted to tell him everything. No one was around her, no one would know. But she was too scared.

"Y-Yeah.. Um, I'm sort of lost, though," she told him, kicking at a nearby stone. He chuckled at her, "Alright. Well, drop a pin and I'll find you. Be there in a few." She bit her tongue, tears still rolling down her face and onto the ground. His chirpy attitude was breaking her. "Okay.." She then hung up the phone, unsure of what to do. Keeping this from him would either break them apart or kill her, but telling him would kill him. She hurriedly dropped a pin of her location on text message before collapsing onto the ground. She cried and cried, curled up in a ball against the damp earth. What was she going to do?
