                                 Darkness.

It was dark. Damon stood in front of Carter, his face absolutely broken. "No, Carter–" A searing pain unleashed across her throat, a warm liquid spilling down the front of her body. She choked on the rushing blood, her eyes still trained on Damon. "Carter!" he screamed. Her name echoed in the air as she felt the darkness grab a hold of her. "We're going to have fun," that menacing voice spoke, her body shuddering. She coughed once more, jolting upright. Sweat soaked her fair skin, her damp hair sticking to her sweat soaked face. "I need to call Jackson," she whispered to herself. After the party yesterday, no one had seen him. She even stayed up most of the night to see if he would come home, but he didn't. She swiped her phone from the bedside table and began dialing his number.

It rang, and rang, and rang until nothing. She let out a sigh, running her fingers through her hair. She dialed Elena's number next as she crawled out of her bed for her bathroom. "Hey, Carter. Why're you up so early?" she asked in a groggy voice, obviously telling Carter she just woke up without actually saying it. "Just a nightmare. Do you want to go on a run with me?" She laughed at her question, knowing good and well that she didn't run unless there was a reason. "Are you serious? Because if you are, sure. Let me get ready." A sigh slipped past Carter's full lips as she pulled a towel from the shelf. "Thanks, 'Lena. I really need this," she told her, scrubbing her hand down her tired face. "Yeah, no problem. Meet you in thirty?" She agreed, hanging up the phone.

She turned on the faucet of the sink after setting a clock on her phone. She was going to find Jackson. She needed to find Jackson. He was her best friend despite everything. Once the water cooled, she began splashing the liquid in her face. She gripped the towel on the counter blindly before patting down her face. Suddenly s sharp ringing blew through her ear, causing her hands to press hard against them. Woods, trees, Jackson... Blood. She gasped once the images left her sight, tears pricking her eyes.
