Synopsis - Book three of The Forgotten series

~Weakness is not allowed in the Mountain packs. Living in the mountains, away from civilization and away from the eyes of mundanes. The Mountain packs are harsh and brutal. Shifter against shifter. Pack against pack. Wolves against wolves. All fighting for the same thing. Survival.Azrael Thorn was a powerful Alpha. He had taken his title by force, as tradition dictated. Power and authority of the Alphas and shifters who had challenged him and lost radiated off of his tall, bulky frame. He was dangerous and he was everything an Alpha of a Mountain pack should be. Yet he had no mate or family to call his own. But a mate who could not stand the bitterly cold winters or the brutality of the pack would not produce strength. It would only bring weakness. Weakness is not allowed in the Mountain packs.~If the pain stops, it means you are dead.Lace Owens is underestimated at every turn. A power and an authority that would bring many men to their knees if they sensed it, hangs off of her like an oppressively dark cloud but she hides it carefully. Unwilling to let anyone see just how powerful she has become. Her skin is marked with a painful past and she has turned a thing of cruelty into a thing of beauty with her blade. Swirling patterns adorning her skin, hiding the cruelty among her willing pain, her only comfort against the world around her. If the pain stops, it means you are dead.~Two world collide as Azrael and Lace form a bond and spiral down into unfamiliar territory where Azrael is shown that strength doesn't always come from size and Lace learns that love can spring from even the most painful places. Together they show the werewolf world a long held belief still stands strong.Weakness is not allowed in the Mountain packs.

Review - Okay so this is the third in the series - some of you may wonder why I started ass backwards and I'd like to explain my reasoning...

Firstly, I did start reading the first book in the series some time ago although I sort of stopped mid book only because I got caught up working away for a couple of months. Now, I came back to the lovely miss Anna to find she's already on book three in the series and the synopsis jumped out at me so brutally that I found it impossible to start at the beginning and just hoped I wouldn't get overly lost with characters I only knew bits and pieces of. Just in case you all don't like to do things the easy way either - If you do want to jump straight into this one then it's actually very simple seeing as she manages to explain the backstory simply enough that you don't have to start from book 1 if you don't want to.

Secondly I really wanted to see how she managed with the rather troubled Lace, describing her past and present issues, the depth of her problems and how the people around her deal with it. Sometimes you just hit a home run with a story, drag readers into your own little world and keep them utterly hooked until the very end - Well done on your home run Anna :) The sheer amount of work that she must have put in to truly understand the character she thought up - to be able to truthfully describe every nuance of Lace's personality and how her earlier life impacted the Lace we get to know is astounding, and disregarding all else the author should be praised for this thorough research alone - because we all know how little is usually done with the majority of wattpad writers.

Thirdly I was overly curious to see how she managed to fit together Lace and Azrael - how she managed to show a growing bond between people when one of them is so obviously closed off. Its a kind of beautiful progress that they undergo - finally a story where the male thinks about his actions and takes steps to improve himself rather than force the female to.

Lace is now one of my favourite characters, not because of her ability to overcome, not because of her eventual healing but simply because there were some parts of her that she refused to change, just because there was nothing wrong with those parts to begin with.

I'm so glad I read this, it left me truly thankful for the story, and I'm about to go back and vote because I think I forgot to when i started reading!
