Mike and Elle had been dating for about 1 year and 3 months when Mike dropped the 'l' bomb.

Mike and Elle were laying on the sofa in the basement watching a Star Wars episode, when the world slipped through Mike's mouth.
"I love you, Elle." Mike said, before he even realised it had slipped through his lips, Elle had gasped in shock and looked up at Mike with surprise. "Elle I'm so so-" Mike was cut off by Elle's lips landing on his ever so gracefully unlike the first time they kissed...
After Elle had let go of Mike's lips, Elle smiled at Mike and said, "I love you too Mike." She'd had a very, very long conversation about boys and periods and love and Mike with Nancy.
To Nancy, it was rather obvious that Mike loved Elle more than life itself and Elle loved Mike like she worshiped the words that came out of his mouth.
