Chapter 11 ~ "Don't let go of my hand, got it Baby Girl?"

Rose gently shut the door behind her and sighed. Today had been a crazy day and she hoesntly just wanted to crash right into her pillows. Dropping her purse on the floor, she raised an eyebrow as she heard some quiet sobs.

She made her way towards the bathroom. Gently she pushed the door open only to reaveal her mother sitting on the toilet, her hands over her face. She gasped and ran over to her mom,

"Mom, mom what's wrong?' She asked, running a hand through her mom's crazy mess of curls. Her mother let out another sob, causing Rose to wrap her arms around her,

"It's over Rose" Her mom croaked. She tightened her arms around her,

"What's over mom?" Rose whispered.

"My job. They just- He just fired me; J-just like that," Another sob racked through her mom's body and Rose couldn't help but unwrap her arms and clench her jaw. Her mother looked up at her with red eyes as she spoke, "He did what?" Rose snapped.

"He just fired me," Stacy said, "Just like that, now what are we going to do? I don't-"

"No"

"No?"

"How the fuck is he just going to fire you for no reason?" Stacy shrugged, looking numbly at the floor. A million thoughts flew through Rose's head, What were they going to do now? Fuck, they barely made it through with her mom working.

At night.

Her mother worked as a waitress at a 24hour diner. Rose hated the fact that her schedule was so late: 9-3am. But Stacy never let her daughter work. It was her responsibitly to take care of them, not the other way around.

"I'm leaving," Rose declared. Stacy quickly scrambled off the toilet seat, "Wait Rose where-"

"If he didn't give you an explanation, He's going to give me one,"

"Rose don't I'll just-"

"No."

"But how-" Rose sighed turning to face her mom. She was worried, she knew. But she wasn't going to stand around while this asshole did whatever the fuck he wanted.

Fucking men.

"Don't worry mom; I'll fix this okay? Now go with Jace he must be worried," And with that she slammed the door behind her.

"Right now? Do you know what time it is Baby girl?" Jake spoke through the receiver. Rose let out a frustrated breath,

"Listen, I'm not taking no for an answer. This is serious Collins; I'm not fucking playing,"

She heard some shuffling on the other line and a groan before she heard his rough voice again, "I'll be there in five"

Her brown eyes widened, "Wait, Seriously?"

"Yeah. It's not like I'm doing anything. Plus a man can't let a chance to spend with his lady go,"

Rose rolled her eyes, "I'm not your lady, Collins now hurry up!"

"Sh, don't rush me woman!"

After waiting for almost fifteen minutes - even though he clearly said five -Rose saw Jake's car pull up on the sidewalk. He threw her a smile but it quickly faded when he caught sight of her expression.

She looked to be pissed.

She closed the car door, her back tense.

Jake cleared his throat, "So um where too?" He asked cautiously. All it took was for Rose to crank her neck and face the boy sitting beside her for her to slap a hand over her mouth.

And then she started laughing.

Jake was only in his boxers and a white T-shirt - please don't forget that it's nearing the end of fall- and his dark black hair was a complete mess.

Jake raised an eyebrow at the crazy girl sitting in the passenger seat.

"Have you lost your mind baby girl?" He asked to the brunette hysterically laughing.

"What the fuck are you wearing Collins?"

Jake groaned, "Don't even start baby girl. You were rushing me!"

She calmed herself down as she met his green eyes. "Just drive Collins"

"Just drive Collins" He mocked her, puckering his lips.

"I don't even know where we're going,"

"Oh right," Rose reminded herself, "Do you know where Eat n' Rest is ?"

"The 24hour diner by the mall?"

She nodded, "Yep." Jake's foot pressed down on the gas pedal, causing the car to begin to run along the road.

"Are you hungry baby girl?"

She rolled her eyes, "This is serious. Don't play around with it."

"Can I ask why?" He said. He couldn't help but want to lay kiss between her furrowed brows. Or intertwine his big, rough fingers with her small soft ones and give it a tight squeeze.

He didn't know what was going on, but seeing Rose so angry was making him upset.

"You'll find out"

When they made it to the diner, a chuckle escaped Rose's lips. Even though she told him not to come; he was being a stubborn butthole and decided to enter with her.

Only he was now regretting it as his skin was covered in goosebumps. His boxers and T-shirt weren't really doing a good job at keeping him warm.

He groaned, "I'm so getting you back for this Baby Girl,"

"Whatever," She walked into the diner and gasped. It wasn't really that late; probably around 11 to 11:30. Around the time her mom goes to work everyday. But as her eyes scanned the wrecked diner, she saw that all of the people in there were men.

All of them.

And their was no waiters, there was only waitresses. Is this what happened after 11pm?

"Rose," She felt Jake's presence behind her. But she was to she'll shocked to say anything back.

All the men were old; probably in their mid 50's. Most of them had big round bellies and were drinking till there was no tomorrow.

"Don't let go of my hand, got it baby girl?" Jake appeared infront of her. He slipped his big hand into her little one, giving it a comforting squeeze.

Why hadn't her mom told her?

And as she gazed into his eyes she couldnt help but feel thankful for having Jake there with her.

Or else who knew what would've happened.

Nonetheless, she numbly nodded and was pulled along with Jake's hand tightly around hers.

Taking her heart into cardiac arrest.
