CHAPTER THREE
My dad pulled into a driveway covered with pine needles. I immediately notice Luke's truck and my stomach begins to turn.
My dad turns off the engine when we are parked behind a gray Cadillac. "Delaney I know what your thinking." He didn't dare look me in the eyes. I quickly open the door and step out of the truck.
"We are going to be late right." I said loud enough for him to hear me inside the car.
"Right." He responded as he stepped out of the car.
We walked up to a glass door, which was immediately opened making me jump.
"Hey!!! " Lillian was way to excited, she hugged me, then my dad pulling him inside. "Come in come in!!! Please." I wondered why she was acting so weird. Her house was huge it was only a one story house but the ceiling was so high it was as if the tip of the roof can touch a cloud. "Luke!!!" She yelled as her voice echoed.
Luke came out of a hallway behind me, I turn around and our eyes met. I shivered then looked away.
"Hey." Luke said dryly his hair seemed like it was always perfect. He walked up to my dad and shook his had. "Hey Delaney." He whispered while grabbing my hand to shake it.
"Hi." I said softly.
"Why don't you show her your room Luke while Jake and I prepare dinner." Lillian said, her voice was now calm.
"Alright." Luke reached for my wrist ad dragged me towards his room.
His room was painted in white with a baby blue ceiling. A corner of his large room he had about 20 pairs of shoes called vans in all sorts of colors.
"What are vans?" I asked while looking around slowly.
He laughed a little. "They are a type of shoe." He grabbed my wrist, keeping me from spinning in a circle admiring things. He looked me in my eyes and smiled. "Want to try one on?" He asked smiling even bigger.
I shook my head, "oh no that's okay." I waved my hand out in front of me.
"Oh c'mon, what color you like?" He kept staring into my eyes.
"Uhh I guess red." I smiled into the end of my leather sleeve. He bent down showing his Starter polyester underwear, the only way I knew it was Starter because It was written in big letters.
"Alright be careful these so happen to be my favorite pair." I giggled just thought of me picking his favorite one. "I know this might be difficult but you gotta take off them boots of yours." He laughed helping me take them off.
I slipped my feet that were covered in black socks into the red shoes. They felt stiff and new. I was now sitting on his soft bed and he stood above me. I looked up at him and smiled.
"Oh shit, huh how did I not notice." My smile faded and I looked down at the red shoes. "Oh no sorry didn't mean it like that." He bent down in front of me. "How could I not have noticed you had braces?" He lifted my chin and looked at me. "Why do you always do that? Why do you always look down?" I tried my best to hold my eyes into his but I couldn't I looked away.
"I don't know?" I said questioning myself whether I actually knew or didn't. "How old are you?" I heard myself blurt out.
"I'm 20." I know he was smiling. "How old are you?" I became nervous again.
"I'm 19." I said I looked up at him and smiled.
"Your a little cutie with them braces." He tapped my nose, I couldn't help but to look at my boots kicked across the room an smile bigger.
"Now give me them sneakers back." He winked at me and put his sneakers back in the corner. He walked over and sat next to me...really close.
"How come you still in Dallas if your 20?" I asked not taking my eyes off my black boots.
"Well I need to save money while I'm in college so staying here is cheaper, plus keeps my mom from being lonely." He said, the first time I have heard him answer something seriously. "What about you?"
"We'll I'm in Dallas cause of my horse Snow and I ain't got another place to go, I like it here." I noticed this is the longest I have talked to him before.
"Man, I didn't notice you had braces and now I found out you have a southern accent." I looked at him, and he winked at me.
"You like horses Luke?" I asked finally able to keep eye contact I suddenly felt comfortable.
"I actually I do but don't count on me riding one." I couldn't help but to giggle.
"I love horses." I said softly looking up at the ceiling.
"I know." He grabbed my chin and rubbed his rugged hands on my delicate smooth skin, he turned my head to face him. I looked down when I noticed he had a different stare. Did I do something wrong. "Look at me." He whispered, I was scared so I looked at him. "Wow beautiful eyes Delaney." I blushed my cheeks turned rosy red.
"Thanks." I said softly I wanted to comment on his blue eyes but I wasn't sure if it would be awkward, I didn't know what to do next so I let him stare at me gently rubbing my chin.
"Dinner!" I heard Lillian scream, but he didn't let me go he just kept staring into my eyes, into my unexperienced soul.
