Maya's POV

Lucas hasn't called or texted or even came to visit Rion in a few days. I'm getting anxious. What if he doesn't come back? I head to Riley's to talk things out with her.

"Ya, he came over yesterday actually." Riley says when I ask her if she's seen Lucas. My heart drops.

"Oh. Well I haven't seen him in a little bit."

"Maya, he really feels bad. Like really really bad."

"He told you what happened?"

"Ya. He did."

"I think it got a little out of hand. I just think that he should respect what my decisions are."

"Maya, he just wants to make sure you're okay."

"Yes. I know that but is just Josh."

"Maya, I think he still has feelings for you." I look up at here and shake my head.

"No. He can't. That was ages ago. Besides, he chose you."

"He never really got over you. He even told me himself that he made a wrong choice. He loved you, Maya and if I didn't know any better I think you love him too. It hurts him to see you with someone else and especially Josh."

"Riley, he can't like me. I'm Maya Hart. Broken and hopeless. I'm a teen mom and a fuck up. I slept with my best friend's boyfriend. I'm the one who left and rebelled."

"Maya, you are my best friend. You left so you could spare my feelings. You're not broken. You're fixed. You left but you came back. You are a great mother."

"What am I supposed to do?"

"Find him. Talk to him."

"Riley-"

"Go. Now. I'll take care of Ri." She says shooing me out the door.

"What if doesn't come back?"

"He will. He always will." She reassures me. I give her a quick hug and head out.

I start walking. I don't exactly know where I'm going though. I end up in Central Park. I'm walking and I see him. He's sitting on a bench. He looks dreadful. He has bags under his eyes and his eyes are bloodshot.

"This spot taken?" I ask. He looks up and shakes his head. I sit next to him and we sit in silence for a few minutes.

"What are you doing here?" He asks finally.

"You haven't come to see Rion."

"Well, I didn't think it'd be a good idea."

"Why wouldn't it be a good idea?"

"Maya, I could've hurt you or even Rion. I don't want to hurt either of you. I would never."

"I know you would never hurt us. You're a huckleberry and a moral compass. You're Lucas Friar and your baby wants to see you."

"I don't know. Maybe it's best if I just stop-"

I grab his face and turn him to me. "Don't you dare say that. Ever. Orion needs his dad. He needs someone to look up to and someone to play ball with. He needs someone to teach him how to be a huckleberry just like you. He needs you. I need you." I say.

"You need me?" He smirks.

I roll my eyes. "Yes. I do. I can't do this by myself. I may have done it before but you can't back out now, Ranged Rick."

"Okay. Let's go." He says and we walk back to Riley's.
